The trails are relatively easy but they have huge consequences for mistakes. Narrow shelf roads with thousand foot drop offs in many places. Poughkeepsie and Black Bear are the hardest 2 and I'd say Pough is the only one a stock truck wouldn't be able to do.

Well, the last pics from this years trip out west. First is from SE Colorado and last is from somewhere in Kansas. I love driving across Kansas, Nebraska and the Dakotas because they are pretty empty, as far as traffic is concerned. Then I return home to airplanes overhead, weed eaters and lawn mowers and the kid down the street with the drum set. I often just stop and drink a Coke or have lunch and listen to ....nothing. Silence is way underrated. My truck is soon to be 14 years old. It has been reliable the whole time and I still love it. Only issue is the clear coat that starting failing 5 years ago. It has spent the better part of it's life outside in the sun and salt air ( I live a block from the Atlantic Ocean) not good for the paint. P1070567.jpg P1070787.jpg Great forum, this. I hope to make it another year in 2021!

    Quiet is most definitely under-rated.

We took the family on a road trip to Montana and Wyoming. After having driven over a few cattle guards the kids finally asked "what ARE those?". So, in the middle of nowhere off a two-lane road I stopped and got everyone out to check one out in person. After a couple of minutes we became aware of how quiet the area was - such that you could hear the tall grasses rustling against each other in the breeze - and NOTHING else. No jets overhead, no freeways, no leaf blowers. Just rustling grasses and our own heartbeats. What a treasure.
