CR National Park is one the best hardly visited parks our of the big Utah parks.

Yeah it’s a great spot! This was my first time camping there. Got there early and it was a good thing I did. There was multiple people looking to camp there after we set up camp.

It's a popular spot. There is another one at the end of that spur that is pretty good too and big enough for multiple trucks.

Some people passed us headed that way. I’ve never gone down that road any further but just started checking that area out. I’ve spent a lot of time on the other side of 410 around stampede pass.

Capitol Reef really is a great park. Quiet, not overly crowded, and beautiful. Also: Pies.

I'm not sure if we'll make it next year (we've stopped in en route home from other trips te past couple years), but the next time we go, I'm planning on checking out the northern or southern ends of the park, which I imagine are even less busy.

My deal with Utah is the places with the least people the better. We did take a hike in Brice, it was a very unique place to hike but I missed out on the "no people thing".

Here's a video of Red's Canyon Scenic Backway, it's got to be one of the best pickup roads in the SW.

Stopped there too, wish I had taken a picture so I could do a same-place different-truck post like @r3k above.

Utah is wild. You can look out your car window and see something utterly amazing... Anywhere else, this would be a state park or a national monument or whatever--a major tourist destination. But in Utah... that might just be some dude's back yard.

And in case anyone didn't know: Next weekend is an annular solar eclipse--and it runs straight through Utah, with Canyonlands and Bryce within the annular zone, and CR right on the centerline. Vast swaths of Oregon, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas too. That's annular, not annual--apparently the next time you can watch this type of eclipse in the contiguous US will be in 2046.

And man, I must be hungry, because I just read essjay's reply as:
    Dang, I missed the pies!

    Anyway... on to Colorado!

damn i was close, like really close.
after the burr trail switchback i took that no name trail to hwy 24 intersection where there's the restrooms on my 2nd pic. From there i went to see the petroglyphs and went to the visitor center. i was there. ugh.
    someday.

At about 250$CAD for the whole setup it’s pretty bloody good. It’s four of us up there, two toddlers and two adults so it can be way too hot. But! The remote simplifies that a bunch.

it keeps the air moving and therefore there is a lot less moisture in the tent from the condensation as the humidity point stay higher.

This is a Hyperlapse of the Upper Muley Twist trail. It's a cool run down a truck sized slot canyon with a million dollar view at the end.
