That guy has to be nuts. I haven't done the Hurley Pass in years but I know it as 74 KM of rough gravel with tight switchbacks and steep hill climbs. Its the most direct route to Gold Bridge from the Whistler/Pemberton area.
There's other routes to Gold Bridge, so not sure why someone would put a classic through that.

Aw man that looks great! I want to camp with my truck sometime. Was thinking about something like Big Sur or Lake Tahoe.

That road is no better, I cross 6-8 times a year and at best it's rough by hunting season it's down right evil. It climbs from the pemberton valley over 4000ft in less the 15km and drops 3000 in 10 on the far side. I ran into him on the section we call the superhighway where it's usually 50 mph territory. I had heard of people doing this sort if thing, almost over landing in cars form the 20's 30's and 40's. Like ryanjboutin said that's what those cars had to do every day back then

Yeah but at least back then replacement parts were easy to
come by. I'm sure it's hell trying to find spare parts for that thing if he was to damage something.

There are some great spots in Big Sur if you know where to look, and if you go at the right time of year. Most of the family campsites that run along the highway are expensive and crowded. But some of the more remote roads, to get into the mountains, are closed off during winter when the weather's bad.
