I figured that would be a good description, since everyone experiences the tattoo differently. lol

Finished the cover up yesterday, about an hour of finishing up the empty spots and an hour of touch ups.

April will be the next appointment for touch ups and start to repair/ re-do my shoulder cap so it matches the rest of the arm.

My first tattoo. Looking forward to getting more! This pic was taken about a week or so after it was done, so it’s still healing.

Thanks! I got it at Trader Bob's in St. Louis (https://www.traderbobstattoo.com/). I didn't know, but apparently Trader Bob's is one of the oldest and most respected shops in the tattoo community. Supposedly it's considered a real feather in your cap if you're chosen to work there. It's a very unassuming place, but it has a very rich history. My artist, Tyler Beck, was great. I'm looking forward to getting another/more from him.

Not knowing what to expect, I had it built up in my mind to hurt a lot more than it did. The outline hurt more than the shading. If anyone is on the fence about getting a tattoo, just do it. Of course, some areas are more sensitive than others, but start off with an easy one like the calf. One day I'll work my way up to getting something on my chest and back.

Oh nice! Yeah, the only one that kind hurt so far for me was on my traps. I've heard people say the elbow is terrible, but neither of mine hurt at all. It just vibrated up thru my arm :rofl:I posted mine a couple pages back, gotten a few more since those photos though.

    Thank you!

It's been a hell of a process, started it back in 2018, ended up going through laser, booked the cover-up in 2022, and finally finished it in January!
Can't wait to see what she does with the shoulder cap to make it match the style. One of these days I'll step in front of a camera an get someone else to take the photos for me.

I think I've posted this before, or similar.
This was my experience on the arms, inside forearm I could feel it, but the outside I could pretty much take a nap - outline or shading. But then the wrist comes and BAM.

    upload_2025-3-11_10-45-24.png

My schtick is that I won't touch hands neck face but also I won't put any anywhere I can't put on sunscreen myself reasonably. So, back is out.

I think my next piece is going to be a cover up on my left shoulder. Keep the same idea but it's aged a bit in the past 15ish years, go with some black roses over it I think. I should think about that sooner than later so I don't have to deal with fresh ink in the summer months....

I had one laser removal session for two tattoos on my fingers and that shit hurt way more than the tattoo.

Today was supposed to be touch-ups and start fixing older work... but alas, I tackled the world two weeks ago after coaching rugby and am having shoulder reconstruction tomorrow, on that dang arm. No tattoo work for several months now :(

Speaking of all that - I have to look around for a cover up. I am thinking of some black and purple roses.

Something like this (this is not mine) to cover up a red/green rose memorial piece. Would still be a memorial piece but just a different take on it 15 years later.

    upload_2025-4-3_9-6-53.jpg

I just don't know if they'll be able to blast over it no problem or if it'll need some laser first. It's going to go into the owie zone on the left arm so that's going to suck a bit :p Got some other ideas too though, and waiting for the flash board for a festival coming up in a couple weeks!
