Interesting. See I was told to let it flake off mostly first before hitting it with lotion. Bout 5 or so days. Clearly it either way hasn't killed anyone yet. Lol

This is good advice! It is common people leave plastic wrap on. You want to let it breath. I take the wrap off 2 hours after the session. Wash with non scented soap lightly after unwrapping. Make sure to dab with clean paper towel when drying. For the first couple days I use a light amount of A&D or Aquafor. It just stays moisturized longer. And makes those colors/lines POP! I wash it at least twice a day or with showers.

I really want to add on to my arms but i cant decide weither i want an angel-devil or if i want to get really detailed and have a snake wrapping around my right forearm thats bitting into my wrist (i have two perfect needle scars) but i want to make it look like the metallica black album snake.

Havent decided what i would get on my left (good) side... Maybe angels or idk i need ideas!

    For reference.

I've always just followed the directions given to me from the tattoo parlor. I don't know if every shop does cause I've only gone to 2 different shops for the 3 times I've gone under the needle. The thing that gets me is some people spend all this money to get inked and only look into getting it not caring for it.

Meh, I did for the first few. People heal differently. To heal fastest it needs to be clean and getting air. It's disgusting to think of all the bacteria that could spawn in that warm humid pouch between your skin and the plastic wrap. Either way I agree... If you are shelling out the money for beautiful art you should take care of it. I've been around tattoos since I was an infant. It's just the traditional "standard" way to do what I and Kyle posted above. To each their own however. :) I just know I've seen a lot of different methods churning out a wide range of results.

I always equated it to someone using a carrot peeler on me but I like your version better. Side sucks though. 100% agreed. :bananadead:

Yup, for my last tat I bascially took off the wrap once I got home and stopped bleeding. Worse case I've heard about from my artist is a tourist in Hawaii getting their 1st on vacation and then going swimming in the ocean. Not the best idea...

Jesus. It never ends does it? I've seen some horribly infected tattoos. Honestly. After that I could never let it happen to my own body.

I usually get mine then go home. If its on an exposed part of me like my arms or legs in shorts then I won't cover it, if it has clothing over it then I'll have the artist cover it so the cream and blood doesn't get on my clothes. All I do is get home, LIGHTLY scrub it with soap and warm water and pat it dry. After that I wait for it to fully dry and put a very thin layer of aquaphor on it as to not suffocate the skin too much. I've been doing this for 10 years now and they have all healed with no problems at all. But, like others say, everyone heals differently. Find what works best for you and stick with that.

Really depends on how fast people heal but it should peel for everyone.

That depends on you usually between a week or up to three. Mine have healed in week, cleaning 3-5 times a day and using aquaphor. I got both done on a thurday and by the next friday they were done scabbing and we're good, but I keep using aquaphor for a couple weeks after.

It's usually about 3-5 days for me. I've got friends who take over a week however. haha Try wearing a clean long sleeve shirt that isn't restricting. that will keep most of the dirt and grime out. just be sure and keep it clean. You should be fine. :D

I know it's a product of Eucerin. But i'm not sure of it's availability internationally. I've generally used A&D while traveling. Most grocers and pharmaceuticals have it readily available.

Dont' worry about it man, just keep it moist with aquaphor and go to work. I'm an F16 mechanic in Las Vegas, I work 12 hour shifts in 120+ degree heat. Never had problems with mine. Put a thin layer of stuff of on it and your done. Later on if it starts to feel tight, burn, irritate you, or just feels dry, then put more stuff on it. Aquaphor is pretty good stuff, good enough to where I put it on in the morning, after work, then before bed. After it peels you can switch to lotion. You could technically use a scent free lotion now, BUT aquphor, A&D ointment, creams like that will greatly reduce the chance of having scar up. If it scars up then you will always feel the outlines and it will be raised where it should feel just like any other part of your skin. Just remember that the first few days are the most crucial when it comes to caring for it because a tattoo is basically an open wound. Another tip, when applying the cream, put it on, then wipe off all excess. Too much can suffocate the tattoo and can potentially draw some of the ink out.
