If it does not jeopardize your career and it's something you want, go for it. I would love to ink the hands as well, but I work in the industry which will probably be the last in which hand tats are "acceptable."

I have a few friends with hand tattoos and none of them regret them, but they are all blue collar guys and are (at least currently) in jobs where no one gives a shit and they don't really have interaction with customers/clients, e.g. mechanics, union electricians, elevator repairmen, glaziers, etc. The truth is most of the world will still judge you, even if the folks in this thread won't - probably not telling you anything you don't know, though.

I do have a friend that is a firefighter in the highest paid, most uppity county in the state. He has hand and neck tats and it has not affected his career. But, he is 20+ years in at this point. I think it would be a different story if he was just trying to join.

I guess in all my ramblings, my point is, go for it! I, too, will live vicariously through you.

Don't mind the purple outline, this was the day it was done.

This is on the front of my right bicep.

I was working at the Mama Tried Motorcycle Show in Milwaukee in 2017 and saw this logo when I visited the Harley Davidson Museum. It was on their brochure from 1910, so it was when the HD brand was new and predates the "bar and shield" The offset printing was a little rough, so I had a graphic artist friend clean it up and get the spacing more accurate. I also had him remove the pedals. Originally the top of the shield was blue, but I don't like how blue tattoos look as they age.

I like that this is sorta a shield, sorta an arrowhead, it is a little patriotic, and it does not scream HD, as the letters look like stripes on a flag.

I work in the motorcycle industry so tattoos are fairly well accepted. I mostly have BMW motorcycles, but love the history and heritage of prewar HD.

I have Harley tat also. When my dad passed away, on what would have been his next birthday, my sisters and I got the shield, wings, & a ribbon (the ribbon is the color of his Harley) Unfortunately the tat guy sucked!! It looks terrible now. I’ve asked about getting it recolored but getting different advice. So for now, until I figure out what to do, I just live with it.

Yeah, the artist is EVERYTHING. For this one I searched out a guy with super crisp line work. I am not into shading, I like my tattoos to look more like ink stamps or logos.

I have my dad's name on my collarbone. I also had it done on his birthday. It took me several years to find the right guy to do it and I scheduled the tattoo months in advance.

I live with a tattoo for the rest of my life. Cost and the ability to do it NOW, are really low on my priority list. Talent and execution is everything.

I also never try to push a tattoo guy* out or his comfort zone. Going to a guy that does awesome graffiti style work and asking him to do a portrait is asking for trouble. Decide what you want, then find the right person to do it. Ask them what they think, if they are not "into it" move along.

    * I have a tattoo done buy a woman as well, on my butt, :)

I also have my 3 kids signatures on my outter fore arm. A small rose on inner wrist (moms name is Rosemary and of course that’s her favorite flower) and another saying just under my collar bone/chest area. Had 2 shoulder surgeries. Surgeon did her best to save it but the word “just” got a lil scrunched from stitches.

TW group buy. I'm currently saving up to have it redone with ICONs and 33's. Just a couple more visits to the plasma center and I should have enough.
