It’s already begun, your entire post is decades out of date. Overnight charging uses kwatt batteries to store the charge. Available now. In use now. It will take time to fully convert just as it took time to build the interstate highways and “the grid” but not being finished doesn’t mean “not happening” at all. It’s also a vast jobs market. The reality is that vehicle turnover is automatic, more and more people will have an ev for their next one and both range and charging infrastructure will go nowhere but up.

The fun part is this thread started as people wanting to try to convert an ice vehicle to electric and wondering about the technical stuff.

Then people showed up and started bitching about large scale ev being impractical and not perfect yet. I’m pretty much done arguing it unless someone asks a technical question.

I think I'm one of the few that even posts EV conversion info and options. Some just troll but it's the internet and people do get off topic.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Ok... You want to tell the whole story?

How bout the quarter mile wide holes in the ground, deeper that the Empire State Building?
    WA-lithium.jpg

How bout the dump trucks that are 3 times as big as a common house, that transport the shit out of the ground? Not to mention all the other associated trucks and equipment used for lithium mining... most of which is diesel powered.
    maxresdefault.jpg

And once the shit gets out of the ground... how bout the highly toxic cesspools they use to evaporate and get the raw lithium?
    3500.jpg

And then... batteries don't last forever. No one ever talks about where all these "environmentally friendly" lithium batteries will go, when they go bad. Or the fact that in some EVs the battery is actually an integral part of the construction of the car, so the entire thing could be scrapped when the battery is no good.

Oh... And I forgot to add the starving African slave children that are forced to mine Cobalt... another material necessary for EVs

I'm agreeing with you. Don't use Cobalt, which is being phased out as we speak, and don't convert or drive an EV because of mining. I got it.

You can do what ever you want to do. You've made up your mind, I'm not going to change it.

But if you want to talk about the "whole story" ... talk about the "whole story."

The fact is EV is neither better technology nor is it better for the environment. But hey, if it makes you feel all clean, and warm, and fuzzy, you do you

I will. My next vehicle will be a clean, non polluting to charge vehicle. I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for your permission to allow me to do what I want.

So then you're not buying a vehicle for perhaps 200 years?
