I have had the frame and undercarriage of two of my previous Toyotas, a 4-Runner and a Tacoma coated with POR-15, a rust preventative coating. We use a LOT of road salt during Michigan Winters and neither one of those two vehicles ever showed evidence of rusting. Somewhere in our Tacoma World Archives is a detailed account, including pics, of my previous Tacoma undergoing the POR-15 treatment.

I ordered Corroseal from Amazon. It's an industrial product used mainly by shipyards in my area.

Yep, like others have said, treat the rust with some converter and paint, then after it's well cured. Hose the underside down with Fluid Film or something similar. I like chain and cable lube for those sandwiched areas of the frame. It's low viscosity so it creeps in really well then kind of sets up. Then you can FF over all of that.
I also spray some cheap lubricant up into the weep holes on the pinch seams of my rocker panels and cab corners. I also spray up into the weep holes in my doors. I like to do it when it's hot out so the stuff will creep up inside of everything. I spray my leaf packs and everything.
    I put that sh!t on everything.....well, everything that doesn't get Red-N-Tacky.
