TF - they should have paid it. Springs may break in a bit over time. How many miles do you have on your new setup?

 

About 7500 miles. I can feel them barely starting to get softer after a few good hauls.

 

Yeah that's enough to let them settle. You can try removing the added spring(s) they include to make it the HD pack - how's your ride height - you like where it's at or what?

 

Wtf, yeah they should've paid that. I have the standard springs on mine and they're stiff with only a little weight. I have a full size spare and bed cage, but it barely notices that. The standards are probably happy with 150-250 pounds back there, and I heard the HDs like 400+

 

Hd’s are too stiff for most trucks. I’d recommend removing the 4th leaf. It’ll still be too stiff, but a little softer.

 

Little off the current topic but how is axle warp with SUA setups? Especially with the guys running more HP from forced induction?

 

I’m happy with the height, truck sits pretty much level.

 

So after reviewing my receipts, just front and rear Total Chaos LT suspension install was $4200 + tax

 

You could have had someone build a custom setup complete with cage and tire carrier. Start heading south and west.

 

Yeah it’s been hard enough finding shops around that can even install this type of setup around PA let alone someone to tune it. Another bummer is no audio shops that can do custom work which I go to Florida for.

added note I find it comical that on my receipt “uppers and lowers” (control arms) was charged for 16 hours install.

 

I've got deaver u539/540's which are the same hd spring total chaos runs in their sua kit but i've got archive parts instead. I've got 400 hp and really don't have any noticable axle wrap with this setup. But these springs are a 10 leaf pack so i'm sure it would take a ton of power before you could get them to deflect at all.

 

16 hours for UCA/LCA install is highway robbery. You could do that in 2 or so with your buddies, a case of beer and some hand tools

 

As a correction to my earlier statement the shop only wanted 15% instead of 20% restocking fee. Feel free to cringe at my receipt.

 

Labor rates are a little high and they could of cut you a break on the big brake install, but otherwise their hours don’t seem too outrageous. I usually cut my customers a little bit more of a break on all the gusseting, but I also have next to no overhead. I think of all the welding and install is perfect, them you didn’t do to bad. Some of the guys in the lt threads, will go to great lengths to save $50 even if it means the finished product will suffer. I wouldn’t worry about what you pay, even if it’s a $1000 or $1500 more than you should have, once you get the truck in the dirt, it’s really just a small speed bump and well worth it.

The install was done excellently. I ended up paying a little over 2k more than I was quoted so I wanted to see what other members thought about the rates. I’m still not convinced it takes 16 hours for upper and lower control arm installation but then again I wouldn’t know for sure.

 

Gusseting spindles, cam tabs, and coil buckets plus axles it is pretty reasonable
