We made this Aussie style rock guard. Actually works great on gravel roads.

That looks good and light! I was thinking of going something more along these lines:

Your style looks like it would offer more protection up higher... Hmm....

Confirmed that I'm doing a build later this month - taking the last week of the year off work. Working through the last details raised a few questions. Probably posting these on TNTTT as well, but some feel more Tacoma specific given the offroad nature of the trailer.

I'm planning to put the same wheels on my trailer as on the truck - the stock off road wheels. Was thinking I'd do the Grabber AT2 265/70 R16 tires. I figure these are what go on my truck when I'm ready to replace the stock tires. What's everybody else running for their teardrops?

Also trying to figure out the best way to attach a side tent for bug proof sleeping area for my kids. Going to be using the Ironman 4x4 awning/room combo - just need to figure out some type of seal to the trailer. Would love tips here too. My two main theories are to put magnets/ or steel behind the aluminum skin or do something like the Paha Que tents with a gutter rail. Anyone else running a side tent and trying to keep it open to the trailer but closed to the outside?

I'm running BFG KO2s 285/75-16 on the truck and trailer.

It was costly buying 7 wheels and 7 tires at once.

255/85/16 Cooper ST Maxx. 7 wheels and tires here too, makes rotation time fun!

We use an awning rail with a Keder welt sewn into our side awnings

Do you rotate the trailer tires onto the truck?

I would also like to find this mounting plate/trim. I have a P3 controller as well.

I'm just running the stock wheels on my truck, but got a decent deal on another pair for the trailer. I was thinking about going with the Grabber AT2 everywhere, but wondering if I should try to find a C rated tire.

I'm running the same 235/85 R16 as I run on the truck, General Grabber AT2. Mine are load range E, which is overkill for the trailer. There is barely any sidewall pooch at 20psi.

For a side tent I have an older CVT that I don't think they make anymore. It has a large zipper door on the trailer side. It was much too big, so I sewed an additional zipper onto it and made a panel that fills in what would be the hole under the trailer. My awnings are recessed back and angled in relation to the trailer. The end result is that it pulls the opening tight against the trailer since the trailer pushes into the room. It's not a perfect seal but does seem to do well. I added the panel at the bottom of the trailerside door after something got in and ate a hole in the bottom of our PETT camping toilet. Yeah. That was awesome to wake up to.

I have 8 wheels and tires since I'd originally planned on mounting a spare on the TD :anonymous:

Any TMPS issues with the rotation or do you just not worry about it?

When the 4 tmps are on the tires on the truck, no. When at least one is on the trailer the dash light flashes intermittently when towing. I don't worry about it

I'm seriously considering going with 245/75R16 tires. Doesn't change the diameter in a meaningful way and a bit lighter with an E rated tire. Also WAY more tire choices and better prices.

I'm lazy and have the tire shop do it :) I'm picking up a set of winter tires this morning for the truck and I'm looking at buying the TPMS programmer/setting tool so that I can take care of it at home. Hate having to work around the tire shop schedule, but I hate blinky lights on my dash. Actually, I don't particularly care about blinky lights on the dash if I know what's going on with them. I don't want my wife to be in the habit of ignoring blinky lights on the dash though.

If you're curious where I landed on the tire question.
