Personally, how do you like the ride with them set at 1.1... torn between 1.1 and .65 for my 4x4 SR5. Also, what size are your tires?

    Thanks.

I have mine at 0.65" and my sport sits dead level. I bought a used 2016 and I think the rear springs settled about a half inch from new. 1.1 would have definitely made it nose high. I find the ride better than factory sport shocks, less bouncy over the small square edge bumps.

It’s perfect. I’ve since put a block in the back to get some rake.

2018 SR5 4x4. Want to keep about 1" of rake. Can I do 5100's set at first notch (.65") with OME 885 coils in front and 5100's with a 1" spacer in the back?

I would just go 1.1 and do a 1" block. I used the block from low range offroad, has a taper machined in it, no vibes.
eventually, i will be going to dakars, I just dont need them yet. Once more weight starts being more frequent in the bed- upgrade time.

Alot of people bounce between .65 and 1.1. It really depends on your truck.

cool, I agree I just dont want to have to mess with the stock UCAs. Trying to be as thorough as I can before I pull the trigger.

Is there any reason why you went with SR5 coils over the Off-road coils? Do they have different spring rates?

    Thanks.

Have a 2018 Trd off road and got a set of 2nd gen 5100’s for free from a buddy. Gonna try them out. I’ve read go with the .85 for level correct?

So without sifting through countless pages and failed searches. Quick question.
How do you adjust the shocks?? Mine are at 0 notch now but I need to go up a notch. How do I do this?

I am seriously considering a shock change to give the wife a better ride without sacrificing handling of the TRD Sport. My thoughts are Bilstein 5100s up front and 5160s in rear. I’m thinking it has to be far (hopefully) superior to the stock Hitachi OEM shocks.

I think the OEM shocks ride excellent and have only heard that the 5100's ride firmer.

How does it ride is it simpler to the OEM shocks? I was reading they ride a little stiff is that true?

I thought of using adjustable 5100s up front and 5160s in rear. I don’t really tow or haul anything big. I also don’t want to adversely affect handling on the Sport, since I do almost all my driving on pavement. BUT, I would like to make the ride easier on the wife.

It rode a little stiffer than stock with the stock springs but once I swapped them out for Eibach pro lift springs it rode better than the stock ride since I was able to leave the springs on the lowest setting so the struts didn’t get stretched out. That make sense?

I installed the 5100s on the front last week so I figured I'd add to the experience database. New 265/75/16 SL Goodyear Ultraterrains this week. I used the same approach I did when I changed the wheel bearings on my 09 Tacoma. Removed the skid, disconnected sway bar mounts, disconnected sway bar/brake line bracket/anti-lock bracket/upper ball joint from spindle. Then I just pried the UCA up, lowered the spindle/LCA and the shocks come right out.

Used a Shankly spring compressor set. Felt very stable. Worth the $60. That was the lowest quote I got from local shops.

Driver's side has red/green coil. Passenger side has red/blue coil. Set at 1.1". Got about 1" of lift after driving for a week. Toe/caster on left was out a bit, but after a toe adjustment after tire installation all settings are green. Pics are deceiving as I have about 300lbs in the back. I have about 0.500 inch rake now.

No rub, no vibrations, so I am happy with the changes. Will likely install the 5100s on the back soon, but I doubt I'll notice a difference.

Alright fellas. Just did the install this am. B8 5100s all around. I initially went with position 3... But I gained more than 1.1. the front was .15 inches higher than the rear. So I took it all apart and went to position 2. Now the rear is .225 inches higher than the front. I wanted a little rake as i didnt want it to look higher in the front. Here is a great link on how to do the front end without a spring compressor. worked like a charm!
notes: OE coils, 265/75r16 tires, 5/8 tank of gas (weight).
Bonus note: Since i swapped out the struts with the method in the youtube video... None of the camber, caster, or toe changed from their factory set positions. However, still need to get an alignment as the camber is more positive due to the lengthening of the strut. The truck still drives straight as an arrow. Getting an alignment on Monday.
Impressions: A little more firm of a ride, but in a good way. Less body roll in the turns.. and the rear end doesn't bounce around anymore when i go over bumps.
    cheers!
