Currently I have a 2" leveling kit with 265/75/16 duratracs. I have 0 rubbing issues and didn't have to trim. It's about time for a new set of tires and I was wondering if 285/75/16 bfg ko2's would fit? I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but spacers wouldn't necessarily be a problem I just don't really want to lift more than what I have with the leveling kit.

With stock wheels they won't fit. With aftermarket wheels those tires will "fit" after the appropriate amount of cutting and trimming.

I have after market rims that are 16x8, I could only find info on stock wheels. What would be considered the appropriate along of trimming? A little bit I'm fine with, but not trying to gut it

Cool. With aftermarket wheels (hopefully around 0mm offset and 4.5" backspacing) you have the clearance for 285 from the spindle and UCA.

255 tires will require less trimming, 285 will be more. You won't have to gut it. The front of the wheel well will need the plastic inner fender liner cut off to about 6" up. The rear will require the bottom trimmed, possibly a part of the fender and maybe even the CMC. With 2.5"-3" lift you'd have less to trim, but being a 2" kit you'll have more trimming to do than most.
You could do 265/75-16 to get a little bigger tire and avoid these rubbing issues too. Also 255 tires won't require as much to clear as the 285 but same outside diameter. Just narrower.

As stated above plan on doing some trimming. I had to cut the rear, bottom edge of the fender just to leave the tire shop. I had already done the cmc just in case so I can't say for sure if it was necessary. I've said this before but ride height is irrelevant. As soon as you hit that first dip or bump your suspension height is as good as stock. I've read where a couple of guys said no trimming necessary. It I think that depends on tire mfg and that every truck is slightly different. After I got it home did a little more fender trimming front and rear but still looks clean. I probably had a little more than you would have as I had to install wheel spacers to allow clearance for my lower control arms- mfg recommendation

I had a 1st gen taco with the 265/75/16s and I really liked the look because the wheel well looked "full". I totaled the 1st and got a second gen and put everything on it and it just didn't seem to have the same look (different body styles so I understand it wouldn't be 100% identical) that I wanted. 285's seemed to have what I'm looking for but the trimming seems a little much. Would either of y'all have photos of the trimming just so I had an idea before deciding on 265 vs 285? 255 is still on the table I'll just need to research it some more.

This will be helpful for 255 research -
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/255-85-r16-owners-experience.155849/

    And for trimming research -
    https://www.google.com/search?q=tri...imming+for+285+tires+site:www.tacomaworld.com

I'd send pictures of my wheel wells, but I cut way more than needed due to my wheel offset, spindles and tire size.

Damn looks like 285s aren't really worth the hassle for me right now. I liked the 265s and may just stick with that. Not looking at duratracs again because of the amount of highway I drive they're starting to get too loud the more they wear. How do you like the bfg's?

100% worth the cutting and modification to make them fit without rubbing. BUT you will have to cut and trim to make them fit.

are you looking for function or just straight up stance gang life. cause wider tires have zero benefit over skinner tires other than deep deep deep snow.

yeah rule all the way to the gas station, plus 285s aren't even a big up on 265s if your gonna go wide go with 305s or go home imo.

33x12.5 that's the shit I can get down with. 285 all terrains still look like cookie cutters on tacomas
