I am saying if I replace the OEM shock with a aftermarket shock there is no longer a toyota warranty on that OEM shock since its sitting in my garage and not on the truck anymore. Now If I sell that shock to someone who has a SR, the shock is still not covered under toyota warranty since its not the original shock to that truck. But if I put that shock back onto my truck its now under warranty again since its the original shock that came with my truck. The aftermarket shock I put in will never be covered under toyota warranty unless it is a factory toyota shock installed by the dealer. (I can install a OEM shock myself, but would have to cover labor costs to have them warranty it unless they are willing to just straight swap it(1 year 12k miles)

The rest of the trucks warranty is not voided by the replacement of the shocks, but if something goes wrong that the dealer can "pin" on the aftermarket shock, they can tell me I have to pay for diagnosis for the repair. If it ends up being my aftermarket shock, then I am on the hook for the cost, if they find something else wrong, then warranty will take care of the failed part.

Many lazy techs with jump right to the aftermarket shock as the issue, they will take their .85 TU of diagnosis and say the shock is causing the issue without actually diving in because they know you wont pay to have them repair the issue. Its easy money for them and rarely do they get called out on it.

This is not a option for many people here.

Yeah I guess but I do all the work myself on the truck unless I go with kings or something in the future but if he’s doing a spacer lift that shouldn’t be a problem

If you have a shop install your lift yeah I wouldn’t recommend taking it off

I do most of my work too, but sometimes I have my buddy at VW do work for me. He installed my front, I did the rear. Though I need to pull out the fronts to replace the springs, going to do that my self.

Thats what lots of people here do, and at $600 each time it would get pretty expensive to have your suspension swapped anytime you needed warranty work that might involve the suspension.

We have Target parking lots.... they usually have some gravel and rocks.

If you go further north there are some trails, but the vast majority of MN offroad is going to be mud trails or gravel roads.

I think you'll be disappointed with the off-road opportunities in Minnesota compared to Colorado. There are 5 public locations in Minnesota that I would consider to have legal off-road opportunities and one of them is just an old railroad line. The best two are on the Iron Range in northeast Minnesota: The Iron Range OHV Park and Mesabi Mountain (not a real mountain). There are also private locations, but you need to belong to a 4x4 club or know someone. Some of the private locations have public events a few weekends a year for a small fee. Although I haven't visited any, there are some locations in Wisconsin.

My profile picture is from a "most difficult" trail in the Iron Range OHV park. "Most difficult" ranges from stuff I can do in my truck to buggy trails. There are also "easy" and "difficult" trails.

I do not consider gravel roads or forest maintenance roads as off-road, but there is an abundance of them. It's fun to explore them, but you don't need anything more than a Corolla unless they happen to be unplowed in the winter.

One good thing about Minnesota is that winter turns paved roads into a challenges several time a year and anything not plowed can be challenging to impassable.

I suggest augmenting your motor sport activities with some sort of watercraft. We have lots of water here.

One clarification... there are many more locations where you can ride an ATV, side-by-side, dirt bike, or snowmobile, but only 5 allow jeeps and trucks.

There is lots of fishing and hunting all over the state and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness up on the Canadian border is awesome camping (no motors allowed over much of it).
