We installed a 3"front and 2"back with the 1/2" swaybar relocated. We have checked all the bolts to make there tight. But there is a clunk sound in the front when we go over a 8"curb. What could have caused this?

What front shocks are you using, they may be overextending. Or do one of the upper control arms hit a coil?

We watched a few videos but they were all for a 6" lift . those included a differential drop with C Arms.

Depends on how fast you were going when you hit the curb.

We really have to know what you got to be able to help, otherwise its just something making noise.

What type of lift is it? Spacers?

What is your suspension? If your shocks are OEM, or even 5100’s, at 3” you are overextending them.

Did you put in new coils and control arms? They may be hitting.

Skid plate or other hardware? Some had bumping noises from those too.

Most likely the upper control arms contacting the spring when the wheels come down, same thing happened to me when I put my kit on without changing the upper control arms. To check you can either jack up the front end of the truck until the wheels are off the ground, look at the upper control arms and see if they are touching the spring. If they are you need to purchase some. You will also see the paint/powder coating getting worn on the outer edge of the contact point.

Once I changed UCAs, the clunk went away, and the ride improved drastically

You have a front skid, the trd aluminum and some others won't fit right without spacers or it will hit and make noise. Diff drop lowers the arms close to the skid and will hit. And is it when going up compressing the suspension or down extending it that you get the noise

Guessing it's the stock shocks over-extending, if you just used a spacer up front.

Maybe its the mall cop wapping his baton on the side of his truck telling him to stop driving on the sidewalks and off the curbs? :notsure:

OP: JK- but we really dont know enough about your suspension to help much.

I work on my suspension a lot. Taking shit apart putting it back together. Changing ride height on my 5100s. Replacing ball joints. I put shit together right and sometimes I even use a torque wrench. (I'm a professional mechanic btw) and my suspension still makes noise every once in a while. I've never had anything break on me and when I inspect for play or loose nuts or bolts I find everything is good. Probably nothing to worry about, but if you have stock UCAs the ball joint is probably being maxed out.
