Ruger made Marlin 1895 trapper 45-70
At the range for first shots getting zeroed up

Added XS sights lever rail and gasp a red dot. Will turn into backcountry trip truck gun. Ghost ring is good but man the dot just makes acquisition faster if needed in a hurry.

I only have two levers; an Uberti .22 LR Silver Boy...

    IMG_20181211_115840003.jpg

And a Henry Black rifle in .45 Colt...

    B1cke2RzSvug1c_qH3q_Yg.jpg

The Uberti was an impulse buy when I saw it on sale on Bud's Guns for $320. I have taken it rabbit hunting in southern Idaho, but sadly, it has not popped it's cherry, so to speak.

The Henry was a carefully researched and thought out purchase as the ultimate camp/hiking/UTV carbine for defense in the Idaho woods against wolf packs and drunk rednecks. It has performed above expectations and was an amazing buy at $750 locally. Hard to find them now for under $1000 anywhere.

Sick rifle! I love a red dot on a lever gun!

I really hope ruger starts making a .357 mag/38 special Marlin lever action one of these days. I’d be all over that like a fat kid on cake.

I love the ruger marlins but just don’t need a 45-70 and can’t justify the ammo price despite how cool it is. I want something I can shoot more for cheaper.

Check out the Citadel Levtac 92, .38/.357 lever action. Mine is 16" barrel. Fun to shoot, reasonable price.
Too bad it seems .38 Special ammo prices have gone thru the roof?!

Yeah the ammo hurt for this one but grabbed a bunch of Hornaday subsonic and leveroultion 325 so I'm good for a long while.

Did add a RLO stock wrap with riser for the rds

Need opinions, 45-70 or 30-30? Looking at getting a Marlin dark series in either caliber, will be paired with my sandman S and either a dot or scope eventually.

Don't believe 45-70 will work with your sandman need to go primal for that.

30-30 probably a little more practical but 45-70 is just 45-70 and I mean that in the best possible way something about it just screams peak awesomeness

Yeah looking around I just saw the thread pitch of 11/16x24 for the 45/70…. Not cool, looking like 30/30 is going to be the winner

You can get one the the dead air adapters for that but I'm pretty sure the bore size of the sandman won't fit the 45-70

Here's one that will make your nipples hard

1999 mfg date Marlin Cowboy in 45 Colt

    Bought it from original owner/unfired

He had it chopped from 24" to 20" (Gary Reeder/Flagstaff)

I bought it and sent it to Ranger Point in TX

They chopped it from 20" to 16" & installed their positive ejector part

    I hand polished the action.....this Marlin is S W E E T......

    OEM sights now on rifle
