I was after something a little more friendly to my 146 mile-a-day round trip for work. I'd had other Maximas in the past and they were always reliable, comfortable, decent on gas, and fun to drive (stick shifts!). They aren't available with manual trans anymore and I thought I could stomach driving it with the CVT. I was wrong. Wife was more than happy to take it over so it's not a wasted purchase... Although I don't trust the reliability and plan to get rid of it before the 100k mile warranty is up.

What's wrong with the CVT? Millions of golf carts and snow mobiles been using them for ever you just like to feel the transmission shift?

My '07 Nissan Sentra SE-R had a CVT transmission, and it seemed to work really well. Too bad the car was a POS. Ditched it with less than 600 miles for my Taco.

    Best decision ever.

Old thread I realize but I searched.

Buying wife a new car tonight I saw a trail edition 4runner.

It also has lever tcase. I'm jealous. What are chances it can go in a Tacoma.

Ok Old thread but has anyone swapped this transfer-case into the a Tacoma yet? I was just on craigslist looking at 4 runners and saw one with the manual transfer case and thought: Dang-it! I don't need a 4runner TRD-Offroad to get the manual transfer case. Then I though "does anyone else know this existed in 2010+ 4runner models?? :annoyed::notsure:"

Change of direction for next vehicle. :burnrubber:
