So we are going to pay off a loan from China to Egypt. Sounds about right.

You see images like the KFC and the gutteral response is "We must get back at them! Bomb them back to the stone age and then bomb them some more. We will use our bombs to turn their environment into glass, and vaporize every living creature there. Then we will go in a take their oil for ourselves and THEN we can move on with our lives."

Then I remember that I sincerely believe that the people that hate us are a minority. Its just that with the internet available, some crackpot can have easy access to a bomb recipe and can build a bomb and have a reasonable chance at getting away with that shit. In the US when someone pulls a Tim McVeigh, they get caught and executed.

Although I have not been there, I have friends that traveled through egypt and they said many of the people appreciate having Americans go there and spend money. According to wikipedia, tourism is one of the larger forces in its economy.

Also according to wikipedia, the US has given $2.2B ($2,200,000,000.00) average per year to Egypt since 1979. I think some aid is perfectly reasonable, but 2.2 fucking billion fucking dollars is quite a fucking lot of fucking money since 19fucking79. Fuck. That is a fuckton of money that we give them for them to go and have 1/4 of the eligible voters elect the muslim brotherhood candidate.

Fuck. Maybe that was the torturing fee. With Mubarack (sp?) the US (or some "rogues" at the CIA) could send prisoners to egypt to be interrogated (tortured). We'll have to wait and see if the Muslim Brotherhood will be as cooperative.

OZ I have to say that his response towards you was unwarranted and I was somewhat offended, and wanted to comment back to him. I m glad that when we can get a feel of how ppl from other countries view U.S. I also agree with your comments about our foreign policey. its a necessary evil what we do sometimes, but in the end its the U.S. finding ways to protect our interests short of going to war(excluding Irag). Dont know how long the ban but he didnt have to get so nasty.

I just watched the movie. The acting should give reason to protest, not the topic.

That was probably the worst acting and the worst trailer I have ever seen. I couldn't imagine watching the whole 2 hour movie that was out. I think it's even worse it was made by an EGYPTIAN Coptic Christian living in America, not even a true American.

Yeah, supposedly the whole movie is 2 hours. If you go read the article about it, he tried filling a whole movie theater for it with Muslims from around CA but couldn't sell a single ticket for it. So it was pushed to the way side, and this somehow ended up making it onto youtube.

This actually has a lot less to do with oil than you think. We get most of our oil from Canada about 60%. A lot also comes from Mexico and we have some of our own as well. ND might have more than Saudi Arabia at this point. We pretty much get nothing from Iraq btw. We do buy it and sell it on the global market, and it is in out interest to secure the free movement of the commodity and a market price.

Most of the reason they hate us in the region has to do with us promoting Democracy, yet supporting kings and dictators, military bases in Saudi Arabia, and unwavering support for Israel. I highly recommend the book "Imperial Hubris" it's by a former CIA officer.

Either way this shit is getting ugly.

Yes we did (and by we I mean the US government, I never had a say in the matter so leave me out of it), and as a matter of fact we also supported Qaddafi. I would argue that those in the middle east don't like "us" to much per se for 2 reasons. First, for years we have propped up tyrants that oppressed their own people and provided them with "aid" that was used to buy American made weapons that these tyrants used against their own people. The US government has found it more important to support regimes that did their bidding rather than governments that were elected and supported by the people living in those countries. And secondly they do not like our support for Israel who has oppressed the Palestinian people for decades now. One of the major beliefs of Islam is that it is your duty as a Muslim to defend other Muslims who are being oppressed or are under attack. Knowing this Muslim view on Palestine, is why the 9/11 hijackers said there main reason for what they did was the US's support of Israel's oppression of Palestine. It should also be pointed out that a majority of the hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, who is probably the largest supporter of Terrorism of any Muslim country. But we are hands off with them since we need the Saudis to keep the Petro Dollar alive. If Saudi Arabia were to ever stop selling oil in only dollars, the dollar would no longer be the world's reserve currency and the US economy would be over as we know it. And on that note of the Petro dollar I am sure it is no coincidence that Iraq was talking about selling their oil in Euros and then we went to war. Then Qaddafi was talking about starting a gold Currency called the Dinar in Africa and only selling oil for gold and then he was ousted by Nato, and now Iran has been in the works of selling their oil in currencies and gold and now the war drums are beating again. Plus whenever your own country's economy is going down the shitter it is good to distract the people with a big ole' war, nothing gets people devoted to the nation like war. Like they say war is the health of the state.
