You know they are getting information about the searcher on that website too, right? :goingcrazy:

I'll be damned. Out of curiosity I just paid the $3 for a 5 day free trial with unlimited searches. Searched my truck in MD and nothing came up. Searched my buddies in VA and his name and address came up. Next up I'm gonna search my FL car and see what populates.

So it's looking like it varies per state and what they allow. So far TX has given me the most info for anyone curious. MD and NY don't give any owner info. If anyone is curios I'll search their plate for them.

Lil Red was taken so my second choice was Red Taco. If anyone wants to run my plates go ahead. I ain't got nothing to hide except for the right to conceal my 2nd amendment

It only pulls up the year/make/model and the VIN, but not your name and address like some other states do. You can sleep easy at night now!

If you google my HAM license, it shows everything... to my old house, but it’s easy to search forward from that.

I scarred the daylights out of some kids prank calling me once - got their caller ID and returned the call knowing their family member names and address from a simple Google search... asked them to never call back again and they swore pinky promises, sobbed and offered to send all their money (about $5) if I let it go- I felt bad for them and said the lesson was enough- suggested they use their technology more carefully in the future...

I have a Flickr account in my name- but not much on that except a few places I worked. Not much else online beyond that.

I didn't realize people would be able to do that when I got my license :tinfoilhat:

Dude, not to scare you or anything but I wouldn't worry about people knowing your license plate number. Now, if by a remote chance you have a cell phone with an embedded/non removable battery ie. iPhone, Android phones less than 5 yrs old anyone can do a reverse phone lookup online and get
    • Owner's Full Name:
    • Current Address:
    • Current Location:
    • Family Members:
    • Address History:
    • Phone Type:
    • Phone Carrier:
    • Just to name a few

I was talking about my HAM license. There's a lot of public info in the FCC database.

Oh amateur radio, yup that's pretty public. It would be interesting to know what will happen with all that spectrum the government is auctioning off to the wireless and cable carriers.

I had a job once for Merced County, CA looking at aerial photos for tax evaders claiming they own a church on their property when they hide RV’s and pools in their back yard. And there are medical studies going on right now in certain cities sampling your DNA for cancer prone genes from your sewage... Privacy? No way, it is a thing of the past!

God damn spokeo is fucking crazy. It's got every location I've been stationed, current address, and my immediate relatives. I'm searching other people at work and no one else is coming up with all this stuff.

My wife was doing one of those ancestry.com or 21andme.com to trace back her family tree and I asked a simple what if question. What if insurance companies got a hold of your data and knew you had a cancer gene in your system? Would they deny you coverage down the road or offer you a higher premium because they know you would be at a higher risk? Data breach anyone..
