    Hi guys and gals,
I have to report after owning numerous tacomas and have had a great time in every one of them I am saddened to say I have to down size my truck and I am getting a 2018 rav4 for a personal reason and giving up my truck.i know I will regret this but I am still staying with Toyota because I love the brand.

At least you put family before your personal wants....the rav4’s are nice. I’m sure one day you will be able to get another truck.

Love to hear the responsibility and courage it takes to give up something you like for doing the right thing, it will feel good in the end!

Rav4's are sweet cars. You can fit a lot of stuff and people in them while getting decent mpg's and remaining a relatively smaller vehicle. If I didn't have my Tacoma that's what I'd get.

    Good call on downsizing.

I'm glad you are willing to do whatever it is you need to do to adjust. As you say, family first ...........

But please. This isn't even a speed bump in the world of 'life changing moments'. At the very best it's a short term disappointment.

Sidenote. If this is a financial move, why not look for a 3-4 yo RAV. They are great and durable, and one with 20-50k miles would save you a chunk of change over an '18. Just tossing out the idea; not being critical or asking for details.

It's guys like you that make divorce lawyers rich.

OTOH, the 'no compromise' attitude seems to play well in politics. Maybe run for office? :D

Given your situation, you made a great choice. The RAV4 is a good vehicle and will most likely suit your needs (personal reasons). It's very important to be able to adapt to changing circumstances. Sure I allow sentiment to influence my decisions, sometimes, but of course there is a price to pay.

I will eventually be in a similar situation, when the time comes to give up riding dirt bikes... just trying to be realistic. At that point I won't need a pickup anymore but I will need something that carries more people and maybe a bit less stuff. Don't think I will ever give up camping so it will definitely be a utility vehicle - RAV4 and Highlander are on my radar.

Interesting to note that the current RAV4 is as large as the 1st gen Highlander. The current Highlander is nearly as large as a Tahoe. The current Sequoia is a beast. All models in the lineup keep getting larger and larger... then they introduce a new compact model at the bottom of the scale and the process starts all over again. LOL

I was in a similar situation about four years ago when I had to give up my Tacoma (Second one) for a Honda because of family. I hated driving the Honda since I've owned trucks or 4x4s my whole life, but you do what you've got to do.

I recently got another Tacoma (3rd one) though so live is good. I still have the Honda as a daily driver and don't mind so much knowing that I've got a Tacoma that I can drive whenever I want. Having the Honda helps to keep the miles off the Tacoma, plus it saves me on the weekly gas bill.

    You'll be back.
