The main seal in my 2015 is leaking a bit. Not bad enough to drip on the drive way, just enough to mess up the front of the trany.
I bought my 2015 Tacoma New with a "Lifetime Warranty".
Turns out that the "Lifetime Warranty" expires in 2029 .
I plan on being around a bit longer than that.
I found a snag in the so called Lifetime Warranty. You need to provide records to prove you maintain the vehicle. Well, The last time I had the truck serviced, the dealer charged me $120 for an oil change and tire rotation. Before that, They let the oil dip stick hanging out by about 1 foot. When I lift the hood it popped up like a jack in the box. Additionally, the oil plug was loose leaving a small puddle of oil on my drive way.
Needles to say my confidence of the dealers service was not very high, so I started doing my own service buying what I needed from the dealer.
Now my main seal is leaking and I go in to take advantage of the "Lifetime Warranty" that isn't really lifetime and expires in 2029.
Any way, I get this song and dance of verifying my service records and needing to go to an insurance company called Delfy (I think).
I feel like I'm being set up for the big let down.
I remember reading about something similar and the claim was denied because the owner never replaced the cabin filter.
I'm mentally preparing myself, other wise I'm looking for some place else to take my truck for the main seal replacement because $2000 is too much.

I think you are probably screwed. When I use to do my own maintenance I kept a ledger showing date, mileage and what I did. I also kept all receipts of everything, all parts, fluids etc. That was good enough for my Toyota warranty. Unless you can show some proof of at least parts purchase including oil and other things you are out of luck..
How long ago was your last dealer service? If 2 or more years you probably just wasted your $$ on your warranty.

I got the parts from the dealer but it didn't matter.
I did not pay for the warranty, at least I don't think I did:notsure:. It was used as bait to buy the truck, "The Home of the life time warranty", Funny how they don't do that any more, probably got sued. It has been well over 6 or more years since the last time the dealer touched my truck for service. But yeah, I'm of the opinion that I'll be going down another path on this issue.
I've probably already saved the cost of the oil leak repair by doing my own maintenance over the years.

The only warranty worth having is the OE warranty or one of the Toyota Extended warranties.

Dealer warranties require you to everything there, on the schedule in the owners manual.

Aftermarket warranties that 'smell like' a Toyota Extended' are often sold by dealer finance guys, and 'sometimes' they work, but there is too much small print and exclusions to be a good product.

I'd not even sweat the rear main if it's not enough to drip yet. Just clean the area up each oil change and drive on.

Not as a line item, but having to comply with the service requirements would have made them so much $ over the years it wouldn't matter. And BTW, those things are still offered by some dealers. Which means even if I found a great deal to buy from one, I'd still never use them for anything but recalls. Or OE warranty work if the vehicle still had that.
