ok im a lil mad so im venting to yall, a few days ago i got caught with my pocket knife in my dorm room. they did a random room search and saw it laying on my desk. i have carried a pocket knife in my pocket since i was like 10. so i get called up to student life... not only did they take my pocket knife but i got a 200$ fine disciplinary probation for the rest of the year " cant get in trouble not even for the smallest thing or i get kicked out of school" and i have to go see a counselor to make sure im sane since i had a "weapon" on campus... ok im done lol i cant believe thus crap!

 

Sucks buddy. Times haves changed. Especially after stuff like Virginia Tech.

I'm not gunna lie man- It's probably pretty clearly written out somewhere...And whatever you have done since you were 10 doesn't really matter.

If it's against the rules...It's against the rules. Doesn't sound like you get into a lot of trouble...so just be careful and you'll be fine. Best of luck talking with the shrink.

The cooking thing sounds solid...You might have to talk to a few more counselors if you try to tell them the knife is for religion....

 

How long was the blade? Isn't there something out there, that if it's under 4 inches long, it's a tool and not a weapon...thats how I'm able to carry a small pocket knife when I'm on campus.

 

really? random room searches? haha i've never had my room searched except for alcohol after an RA walking in and i always keep a pocket knife in my truck and in my dormroom...those things are handy, thats bullshit

 

X2... according to the Sumter PD anything under 3" is legal to carry.

 

ya not to mention i also got in trouble for the axe and hatchet i had in my toolbox that i use in the woods to clear trails when im wheeling

 

that blows dude. at my campus, theres guys walking around all the time with the knife clips hooked to their pants pockets... knife not visible but you know they have it... i am one of those. not once has anyone said something to me. Some guy next to me in class on thursday and actually pulled it out and started sharpening his pencil!

Showing my age, but when I was in high school, kids would carry deer rifles and shotguns to school in their trucks since most of them would hunt before and after school. Also, they were stored in gun racks in the rear windows in plain view. Nobody thought anything about it. It was just part of life.

Take it from some one in the military, anyone in a large institution is judged based on the dumbest, most reckless retard that institution has ever seen. Im sure you are pefictly fine with a pocket knife, or a 36" machette for that matter. But at some piont eather at your school or another some jack ass slit his wrists or stabbed some one or shot some one. We all know the famous cases. It is imposible to "trust" in the general populous from doing retarded shit, so schools or where ever have to set the rules in complete obserdity to cover "everyone". Shit, I have a comoflage uniform yet I have to ware a bright green reflective belt so people can see me. ??? Ya, I know. But it is because some asshat jumped in front of a plane or some guy in a bus some where mowed some people down. And that my friends is why stupid people suck!!!! Not only do they "F" up themselves and everything around them, but also the smart people that know better (weather directly or indirectly) have to pay for their mistakes.

Sucky dude. I carried one in college all the time. Took it out during class numerous times. Got some strange looks from the people around me. I would use it to sharpen my pencil and whatnot, professors never said anything. Penalty sounds a little harsh. I'd have to fight it if I were you.
