Looks like people are having as many problems with these as people had with Silverstar halogens that everyone was lovin to hate on. And these "new" ones pricing are starting to push towards why not just do retros instead. $250 for bulbs? Nah, y'all have fun.

Early adopters. Adventures in lighting. They will get it. Retros started out with peeps cutting light parts out of junked luxury cars, now there are dedicated kits. It will happen.

Sorry if this has been answered, but can you run these stock halogen housings or do they require a retro fit to focus the light properly?

I just upgraded mine from the originals......got the $80 credit. And I can say the build quality is 10 times better than the original. And they are a hell of a lot brighter too. Cost is pretty pricey, but I ordered them from Southeast Overland and their customer service is superb......took care of any problems instantly.

They mount directly into the OEM housing without any modification.

I have a pic of the original. I'll have to try and get a picture of the new set.

so i got a guy arguing with me saying that leds are shit and have very minimal light output in a halogen housing. I keep saying that vleds.com now sells led lights designed for halogen housings but he keeps saying im wrong and that im an idiot and i have no clue on what im talking about and that im an "internet jockey" whatever that means. Am i right or wrong? This all started from someone on the TW fb page wanting to put hid's in his stock housings.

    Just a few LEDs...
The LEDs that are being discussed in this thread work perfectly in the stock housing, put out plenty of light, don't blind people like HIDs would if you put them in the stock housings...etc. I have seen a few designs from leds.com that look pretty good and have both the high and low beam LED emitters positioned where the low and high incandescent filaments would be. I say you are right and he is the one that doesn't know what he is talking about.

Thats what I thought. He keeps saying I'm wrong and that I don't know what I'm talking about because I don't have first hand experience with them.

I have the $150 bulbs and I am very happy with them. However, I am still waiting anxiously to see some pictures of the new style bulbs.

$150 lifetime led bulbs installed....appreciate all the helpful hints on here which made the installation much easier (ie loosening battery and windshield fluid tank). Little time consuming, took about and hour to install, but was taking my time. Light is significantly whiter and more appealing, even in the daylight. Can't wait to try these out tonight.

Do let us know what you think about them at night. I've been out of town without my truck the last couple days and have half a mind to go driving now that it's dark just to see my lights. (I never get tired of looking at them) :D

So I have 9005 and 9006 lifetimes in my '03 4runner (since May). They've worked well through dust, rain, mud, clay mud, and the coal mud/water found at Rausch. Had water over my hood and they never speed working or dimmed. Only problem for me is that the locking fins on one of the high beam bulbs have loosened and now rotate freely around the bulb. 9/10

So the general consensus is that these don't blind people like HIDs would?

They don't. They do have a higher cutoff line than halogens but the way they put out light isn't blinding. It diffuses the light to the point that it lights everything and is just a mildly brighter looking light for cars in front. Tested with friends in pickup trucks and sedans.
