I'm all about 4WD even if 90% of my driving doesn't require it. I'm sure glad I have it that 10% though. The real question is do you need it/how bad do you want it? If you don't need 4WD, save your money and keep rocking the 06 (unless it has like a million miles on it).

I was in the same boat. I had an '06 with 79k on it and wanted to lift it and put tires and wheels on it. So I went around to the different dealers in the area and worked them until I got the deal I wanted on a new 2010. I must say it was totally worth it. I loved my '06 but my '10 is so much sicker. The backup camera, bluetooth, and xm radio make a world of difference. I got it lifted with wheels and tires and couldn't be happier. Go for the new 2010 or even 2011 if you've got the money.

a few options here is one: Spindles, Coilovers, 5100's rear, Dakar leaf pack with u bolt kit 33's 17x9's 4.5" back spacing. option 2 Icon front and rear, dakar leaf pack, New UCA's Set at 3" up front and i will get 2.5" out of the rear. Same time size...

A reason I haven't spent tons of cash on my truck on quality parts is because i know im going to upgrade to a +09 4x4 off road one day. Do get the truck you want before you spend money on lifts and rims on a truck that your going to replace.

Ya the dealers are being stubborn about the prices..."we offer no haggle stress free pricing..." saying they cant go lower thats the lowest. like 31k trd sport 4x4 no extra options but sport package, 4x4 automatic. what do u think? is the manual cheaper? havent found one

Tough call. I am in the same boat as you, but ultimately decided on keeping my prerunner for now. I guess it depends on how much you will use the 4WD and if you have the money. For me, I would not use my 4WD unless it snows and I already have my truck paid off so it would just be another payment.

    Good luck with the decision.:D

@375taco, I just saw your other thread regarding your decision on what to do here. And I say wow, you made one awesome decision with a new Tacoma AND and new FJ!

Ya brother I couldnt pass that deal up on that Truck and the FJ i took a bite on her car but i put some money down and a 3.9% intrest rate. Same payments and she is happy and i got a BA ride....now i have to save up for everything....oh well the money that was going to go into my truck was a good down payment on her ride...Hopefully i get these wheel spacers on buy/sell/trade...haha. Thanks though brother! Im pleased with everything. Great dealer!

damn. you know even the best lift kit is thousands of dollars less than new truck right?

same payment? err, yea...for alot longer. it isnt really the "same" money. good luck.

me, i would have jacked the old truck up..and put a monthly payment away for the next truck.

    good luck.

A lift by its self is thousands of dollars less than a new vehicle!!??? OMG I really screwed up the dealer told me the truck would be cheaper than a lift. I got screwed...I had a 06 prerunner bro I needed 4WD Thanks for shitting on my thread. Do you know what i traded in besides selling my truck? no. I made money on the truck and I would rather live and die with nothing than live conservatively and die saving everything. Thanks for the luck brother.
