Alright heres the deal, I have a base 2016 2.7l tacoma and I want to put a lift on it. Im shooting for a 2" lift. I was going to buy the blocks and spacers but realized that I need new shocks on the front to, so I jumped online and found the Bilsteins adjustable struts. I don't know if I should get these and no 2" spacer since I can just adjust the ride hight on these to 2". Are these worth it, or should I get normal shocks and run with the 2" spacer. Also does anyone know of some other good shocks that I can get because the bilsteins are on backorder and I want to get the lift and shocks on soon because I plan to do some wheeling this summer. I do most street/highway driving and a bit of towing but I plan to do some off-roading this summer. I heard that the Rancho and Fox shocks are good and I just came across Rough Country to. Any thoughts on this?
    Thanks

Eibach Pro-Truck is a well built set. I am running the Stage 2 set with 1" block in the rear. I am quite happy with it.

I purchased a set of MaxTrac MaxPro 2.5" lift kit for my 2019 Tacoma from Real Truck. I don't do any off roading - just wanted the look. This kit does not have shocks - only the spacers. I put them on 2.5 years ago and have been pretty pleased until just recently. My ride seems to have gotten pretty rough lately - something for you to consider?? (I'm not sure it's the ride or that the roads I've been riding on are in such bad shape).
Anyhow, they're OK - BUT, if anyone can shed some light on whether or not I need new shocks, I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks,

The Bilstein 5100s set @ 2" is best bang for the buck and a much, much better shock than stock. They even recommend you keep your stock coils. Throw on a 1" block in the rear and you have yourself basically the 2/1" OEM TRD lift at a fraction of the cost.

Smart man, avoiding the spacer lift.

Thanks coma toy. Soo, should the shocks actually help smooth the ride?

Here is a link to the Trd shocks from Toyotas lift kit. These are Bilstein 5100’s , just rebranded for Toyota, also less expensive. They don’t have the 5100’s highest perch setting as Toyota doesn’t recommend it anyway. You will need to order the hardware kit separately, its not expensive @ $20 if I remember . I dont have the hardware part # handy but its easily searchable.

Just want to add, that the Eibach Pro-Truck kits are equivalent to the Bilstein in quality and value. Definitely for entry you can not go wrong with Bilstein or Eibach.

    Say NO to spacer lifts!

(Rear blocks upto 1.5" are fine)

Has anyone heard about the loaded 2" Rough Country shocks? And the N3 Rear shocks? Im probably going to run the Bilsteins but if I can't get them then I may run with the rough country set-up.

The 5100s are better than the OEM OR shocks for sure, but not sure if the Ops SR coils are the same size as the OR coils, which Bilstein recommends you keep.

While not the N3s, I have the Rough Country 3.5" Vertex. I was happy spending about that pricepoint and there are several others in that range. I just liked the adjustability of the RCs and the ride is great. This is not the RC of old and many can't wrap their heads around it, continuing to bash them. It's a great suspension. Now, I only go tooling around off-road occasionally (1/month or so when camping) and it is hardly anything hard-core here in the midwest. If I was really into it, in another part of the country, and really planned on beating up my truck....maybe I would have gone with something high-end. IDK.

One last point, many complain about the RCs not being rebuildable. Like I said, I am not beating them up and, should they need go out on me, I can buy another set and still have spent less than most other high-end adjustables. I don't need the label to bolster my self -worth. Rough Country does the job for me and I would not necessarily write them off.

Rough Country also carries a lifetime warranty. That said, most kits have Lifetime warranty components- however, many of them require the part to be shipped & inspected before warranty can be determined.

I’m sure Fox, King, & Icon are way superior to RC, but most daily drivers (and off roaders) will never need the level of enhanced performance that those kits offer - it may just be an issue of looks and status in many cases.
