hahha you're too right my friend!

Wouldn't have posted it except that this thread popped up just as I was biting the bullet on which way to go with my decision and the thread title was just too spot on for my situation:rofl:

I installed the Toytec Ultimate lift kit about 4 months ago.... AND LOVE IT! It rides really nice over stock! Looks good too, with the RED coil overs... I plan on installing 285s... maybe even try to stuff 33s under there, but I have not gotten around to buying the wheels and tires yet. I got mine off of Amazon, but stayed in contact with Mike from Toytec, AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE! With the help of a friend, a laptop by the garage, we installed this kit ourselves. The install instructions on site are pretty straight forward.

I have not made any adjustments to it yet since I put it in... I will have to measure that part, but I just haven't since I am still running the stock steelies...

    I know 285s are 33s... I guess I meant true 33x12.50s

It is sitting nose down slightly though... i think once I get wheels and tires I will "level" it off...

Please don't use spacers... I have not lifted my truck yet but from reading the forum and talking to local mechanics its one of the worst ways to go.

I am looking at going with a OME kit once I can work one into the budget and get someone to install it....

I would say +1 for the ome kit. It was the choice as far as i was concernwd before I had mid travel fall into my lap. Still I have a few friends that run it and love it. Performs well on the street and even better off road. I can vouch for the coilover corrosion I just had mine rebuilt too.

I don't know I've only had them on just over 3 weeks. I've been told if I wheel a lot which I do that I'll end up joining the by yearly uniball replacement club. It really depends on the weather I suppose. If the drought continues I'd expect they last longer but if it's actually winter this year then ya I'd think they'll get chewed up. I do have to pop over the boarder to pic up some superlube as they don't sell it in Canada.

After careful consideration I think that I will go with OME suspension. At the moment, I can't afford to do the whole kit all at once. I'd prefer to wait and do it all at once but since one of my rear shocks is broken and needs replacing, I think I will go ahead and order just the OME sport rear shocks (firm) for now. Will I run into any problems running these with stock everything else?

" then invest in a quality setup"
    To invest:
to put (money) to use, by purchase or expenditure, in something offering potential profitable returns, as interest, income, or appreciation in value.

Buying a lift kit you will get no profit back, so please don't use "invest" when you are referring to purchasing something where there will be no return on your so called investment.

Yeah, you will be returned with happiness once you stop breaking parts with your stock suspension setup. Spending money on a well built kit will provide you with a confident setup while off-road. The "investment" will return with safety. If you're running a stock setup, that is perfectly acceptable. There's no need in attacking me over mentioning the term "invest". Maybe you should invest your time into respecting other peoples' opinions.

I only critiqued your use of the verb in a sentence. To invest is strictly monetary.

Invest - Expend money with the expectation of achieving a profit or material resulted by putting it into financial schemes.

To me, I'm placing money into a product that is ideally going to save me money by not having to purchase more truck parts for the ones I could potentially break off-road. I understand your side, but there is monetary gain to a lift kit. You're essentially spending money in hopes of not having to spend more in replacement parts.

You'll be fine. You just won't have as much travel in your rear shocks as they're capable of (if the new ones are longer) because the frame will be at the same height.

285 is only the width. It depends on the side wall percentage to equal your overall height. example 285/60r18 is basically a 32 and a 285/65r18 is a 33.
