I don't think so. I had a 2 inch spacer and it was level. With the AAL, does that 1.5 inches account for removing the overload leaf? I think with my Icon's I ended up with about an inch in the rear and with 2.5 inches up front, I needed a block in the rear to get a little bit of rake.

If you are getting the truck in April, I suggest you consider the dealer-installed TRD lift. Looks great, and would be fully covered by the warranty. Some 32” OD tires would also be nice…you didn’t mention your trim level, but 275/70r17s are a nice size on a Sport, 265/75r16 on an Off-road.

I think that accounts for removing the overload leaf. At least that’s what they advertise.

I’ll look into that. I’m getting a MGM off road long bed.

I think you'll have a little bit of rake with that setup. If not, worse case scenario, you add a small block in the rear. Easy peasy.

I can’t wait to pick it up! Still have a month and a half to go. I will keep you all posted on how it comes out with whatever route I decide to go. Thanks for all your opinions.

A spacer and the 5100s are absolutely not the same. They may achieve the same thing if all you want is more space between the top of the tire and the bottom of the fender lip.

A spacer moves the entire coil/shock down, reducing the suspension up travel and increasing (over extending) the down travel. You will bottom out the stock shocks before hitting the compression bump stop, you will over extend the shock on each end of travel. The 5100s increase preload on the coil springs to achieve the lift while keeping the overall geometry of the suspension bump stops intact. The cost here is that the ride can be more harsh during extreme compression. 5100s for the front are pretty cheap compared to doing the whole thing twice.

Buy once. Cry once. Wish you lived near by, I'd let you drive my Gen2 and my Gen3 to get a feel for the two setups.

I'm super happy for you. Time is on your side... keep researching. I waited 5 months for my truck so I can certainly relate to you. I don't regret lifting but I got so caught up in what I "thought I wanted" that didn't consider keeping it stock for a while.... well technically I waited 529 miles LOL. I wish I would have enjoyed the truck in stock form longer and spent less time figuring out what I think I wanted. Jim Beam is talking now so it has to be true.

To me, 1/2" taller in the rear looks level from the side view. My truck has a 1/2" rake but looks level to me from any view other than a rear quarter view. I'm curious what folks consider "level"... level may be subjective. I'd prefer a little more rake and therefor I may add a small block. I'll post the photo again for reference.

That’s what I’m shooting for. What setup do you have again?

No sorry I don't. It's just a 3" block and add-a-leaf. Looks like all the other ones. Nothing special. I did both my Tacos the same way. '13 and '20 been running that way for over 10 years with no issues. Like I said in my original post, I don't go off road and my trucks were both 2wd so I can't talk performance in that regard. For my use though, the truck looks great, imo of course and drives perfect. No weird tire wear either. I rotate and align every 5k miles. Tires on this one are 285/75r16. No noise, rubbing or anything like that.

3" RC leveling kit with rear extended shocks 1.5" Wheel spacers 285/70/17 MT Brush guard Black Horse Rollbar

I went the spacer rout since the lift I want is on the budget for next years upgrades. I did the 3" RC spacer kit with my son in about 3 hours and then took it in for an alignment. Total I had about $410 in it. I did notice a little difference in the highway handling at around 80 it felt rougher than usual, but nothing to worry about. I am sure it will handle even better at 3k for a good proper lift. but for 400 and 3 hours, its a good temporary look to give a guy a glance at the future.

I did a little light wheeling in the field yesterday and had no issues with rubbing on 33s
