Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
I've run 285s for over 50,000mi. If you think you can fit a tire that WIDE you're sorely mistaken.

Tall-Skinny = Better traction on snow/ice covered roads, hard packed surfaces.

Fat tires = Better traction in mud, sand, or deep powdered snow.

Most people need tall/skinny for city winter driving survival.

I’m also from mass and work at an inspection station. Technically and legally your 2” of lift you’re allowed does include lift from bigger tires. So remember, ever 2 inches of tire you add, you gain 1 inch of lift.

And if you have 4wd you can have wheel spacers.

Id say the generally accepted "wider is better" has been debunked as you actually gain more tread contact airing down a taller/narrower tire. I prefer 285 cause it "fits right." Pizza cutters look nope

Haha as if your miles on 285s makes any difference in the matter.

But quite the contrary...my first post and all since have said that the WIDTH is the problem and why you can't fit 285s without rub stock height or lifted. Again, height is not the issue and therefore lift is irrelevant when attempting to fit 285s.

My 255's have done fine in deep snow, icy roads, Moab, mountains, etc.

    But I want 315's... (35"). lol

Hm. Not sure you read my post well.

315 is gonna be a huge increase in width. And you're gonna start swapping out front end parts like crazy. Dem steering rack ain't made for it man.

So another stupid question...anyone think an alignment is needed when putting on different size tires?

Yes you should get an alignment any time you get new tires. You dont want to ruin your new tires in the first year youve owned them

Ty brother...so what your saying is I can add a 1inch leveling kit with the 255 80 17s and be just at legal limit and add 1 1/4 wheel spacers to bump out a tiny bit and be good?

    If you're paranoid, yes.

I personally have 4 inches of lift and 265/75r16 and haven't had a problem with any law enforcement. Hope I dont when inspection times comes back around.

Also, I have 4 Spidertrax wheel spacers I dont plan on using if youre interested in them. Was going to put them on CL

The further you push the centerline of the tires out away from the body, the more you are going to have to chop and move to get rid of the tire rubbing.

Are the spacers new and are they 6x139.7 lug configuration?

Changing tire size I would. It's never a bad idea to check your alignment.
