No. Spacers increase your scrub radius, which increases the distance required for your tire to change angles to turn. The further out you go, the greater the rub. http://www.carparts.com/alignment.htm#Scrub Radius

Tire choice... it's all about the looks. Performance is unimportant apparently.

I have no hate. I appreciate a good looking truck. There are two things on a vehicle that performance is more important than looks though. Brakes and tires. Those two components are the most important parts of the vehicle.

If you lift, change spring rates, etc. you absolutely need an alignment. Now you've changed the suspension.

The tires alone don't require it. Alignment can be done with no wheels/tires in place. You're aligning the suspension, not the wheels/tires.

So, if you need an alignment before, you'll need it after as well.

That said, whatever error currently exists may be compounded in tire wear based on a new tire/wheel size/fitment.

An alignment is one of the first things I do when I buy a vehicle, even a brand new one. 90% of the time they need attention, assuming you are more particular than just being 'in spec'.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
Considering how many trucks I've rolled with and the different types of tires we've all had I can assure you, the guy in the left hand seat is way way more important than tires as long as you have something workable. My 285's air down happily to 15psi and crawl just fine and hang with the best of them.

TO be clear Dirty Harry, you list a "kobalt box" in your mods

Damn straight. That thing is my trunk!

I'm pretty proud of the way I've got it rigged up too. Zero screws drilled, just chained down with some u-bolts. That was my very first mod!

Did I read it wrong or did you type it wrong?

Cause it looks to me like you were negative on tall/skinny from this computer screen.

    Seriously, stop thinking that it's a 2" max. For your truck it's 3.6 inches. 63" wheel track x 127" wheelbase =8026/2200=3.64"

And with the 285/70 R17s, he's using up 1.05" of that, leaving him with 2.59" for suspension lift. Seems doable to me.
