Hey TW, need help from those living in the Charlotte area. I’m looking to install my 5100’s, 888 OME (already assembled to the 5100), and Deaver AAL on my 2018 Tacoma. Originally, I was going to do it myself, but after further thinking I don’t have the tools and I’m not 100% confident I can do it. So far, I’ve gotten two quotes, both don’t include an alignment: $775 and $1000 just for labor. I’m looking for a shop that is more reasonable. Thanks!

There are alot of members in your area. Im sure with enough beer and bbq you could get a little guidance. Most of the guys and gals on here are good people that are willing to help out.

No doubt so honestly, I kept trying to find someone but found a local DIY shop. And the owner taught me tips and tricks took less then 3 hours by myself with him explaining. Good luck!

    Hey man,
I live in Raleigh just had the same issue with mine everywhere is so damn expensive. I spent a month making calls working deals, I found Atlantic Tire and Battery who did everything with Alignment out the door for a whopping $450 with taxes total. May be worth the drive for the day they had mine for 2 days to fully complete but well worth it. Feel free to PM me I can send you my bill if they don't honor there price or if you have any questions. Cheers

$1000 in labor for simply swapping the front components and installing a rear AAL is crazy. Its a 3-4 hour job if you're doing it in the driveway, watching Youtube videos for instructions and taking beer breaks. A professional shop should get it done in 2-3 hours TOPS.

You can also try the "Queen City Off Road Toyota" group on Facebook...they always seem to do mod days and stuff.

That’s just crazy! I can’t believe that these types of shops keep in business. It is really not a difficult process, the only tools needed are jack stands, floor jack (could probably get away with a bottle jack), metric wrenches and sockets, ratchet, breaker bar, torque wrench (can borrow one from Auto parts store if you don’t have one), C clamps, ball peen hammer, and a marker to Mark the cam position. A helping hand is nice, but not necessary. Even if you had to buy the tools, you would save yourself a lot of money, and have the tools for future work. You also have the knowledge that the job was done right. Even if you take your time, it shouldn’t take more than 4-5 hours to complete the job.

Yo rawdoggy (this name makes me laugh) Any more details on this DIY shop? Whereabouts.. cost of using the space.. available equipment. Thanks

I’ve got the tools, but would like access to a twin post lift if possible. How were you guys doing the swaps without one? Multiple jacks I assume?

Always done this with a jack and couple jackstands. That's it.

And do the swaps one axel at a time? I was thinking the leafs would still have tension if the front axel wasn’t lifted as well. Unless I’m being dumb about something..

Yep, a floor jack is nice, but you can get away with a bottle jack as well (Along with the Jack Stands). It is a fairly easy swap on Tacomas.

Nope, the truck will be sitting on the jack stands on the rear frame just before the leaf springs, there's no relation between the front and rear axles.

Front on ground and rear up on jackstands. Do one side at a time and use jack to support then lower axle once ubolts are off. Clamp leaves to remove center pin. Open clamps, install aal, use clamps to get center pin back in. Put that side back together.

Go to Atlantic Tire and Battery on Marvino Lane. I can send you my bill of what they charged me to make sure you get the same deal. I wanna say it was $475 out the door with alignment

Did you just set up an appointment, walk in with whatever lift you had and they took care of it all?

Where did you end up going to get the lift installed. Looking at getting the 5100s for my front. I think I can install them myself im just worried bout the alignment. I know they say to just mark where the bolts were for the bottom control arms but im just worried ill jack it up lol.
