Was recently quoted $800 from a shop in Georgia to install a Fox level 2 lift with dakar leaf packs. This is my first tacoma and first time lifting a truck, but this seems high considering I am providing the parts (from headstrong) and it doesn't seem overly complicated to do the install. What everyone out there is paying and/or what I should reasonably expect to pay?

Not terrible. It usually takes a weekend. Most of us to it ourselves so no idea on real prices.

Chances are, if you don't buy from them you get hit a little harder. They just lost a chance at making money on parts AND labor.

Take this opportunity to do it yourself and learn about it. It's pretty easy install and a good first project for someone who wants to learn.

Especially if you post in your local section there will be people willing g to come and help

I was quoted anywhere from $600 - $750 for a full lift install, roughly $150 - $175 per corner. Expect another $85 -$125 for the alignment.

My neighbor got a leveling kit installed at pepboys for $75 per wheel well and $80 for an alignment. I'd prefer to do it myself personally. For the most part it all goes back together the same way it came apart....

It also depends on location, labor rates might be higher in the northeast and Socal where it might be dirt cheap in Alabama

Also depends on if they're reassembling springs / shocks or just taking off stuff and directly bolting in new stuff.

DIY it's a great learning experience and not too bad at all. I enjoy working on trucks tho so maybe I am a little biased

Alignment is included. I wouldn't mind doing it myself but I don't have the space (live in a condo with a parking garage). Definition of a weekend warrior... spend M-T in the city and the weekends up in the mountains.

My install was $750. Same Fox level 2 kit with 3 leaf aal. Included mount and balance tires/wheels, alignment, and lift/uca install. Thought that was pretty good. 4wheel parts wanted $1000.

You know that's actually the one part I personally won't DIY. I've installed all my lifts (three full suspension lifts in total) by myself in my driveway. I found it so much easier to just drive to the tire store, pay 40 bucks and have them build my coilovers.

Buys a lot of Craftsman's though. I'm no tool snob. If I break a wrench, I'll go get another. I've yet to do that however.

Installing yourself helps you to be familiar if you break down later in the field, you know what goes where.

However if you're not sure of your experience, don't have the tools, time, friends to help or location to do it then there's nothing wrong with having a shop do it. If something breaks or happens during the install, they usually have a spare or special tool on hand to keep the project going on time.

I have an old saying, there is no such thing as a single trip to the hardware or auto parts store when you decide to DIY.

Its pretty doable in the parking lot. All you need is a floor jack, two jack stands and the necessary tools.

I did it in the parking lot of my apartment in one day by myself.
