I've already got plans to grind the UCAs down to nothing and cut the fenders out with an Exacto blade to fit 37s!

Well, the time has come. I FINALLY have my truck, lifted. When I picked it up, the mechanic was nowhere to be found, go figure. The manager was very apologetic about everything that happened and even knocked some $$$ of the price.

The long awaited excuse is: The mechanic put it on correctly, saw how much rake there was, thought it didn't look right, then took it out and installed it on top....:notsure:

Well, I'm just glad to have my baby back :)
The lift actually does look good, though there is a lot of rake. Will that settle? Is my front supposed to be higher? Is that how it's supposed to be? Also, I did a bit of an analysis on the ride home. The ride is much better than the stiff shit SR5 suspension. Right as I accelerate, there are vibes, but so tiny no one would notice them except me. And they don't bother me either. As I accelerated from a stop light, I noticed that it chug-a-lugged at like 1300 RPMs and barely accelerated. I pushed a little harder, maybe up to 1900 RPMs and it still barely accelerated. This happened twice, but other times it didn't. Idk if it was just a weird occurrence of my lazy engine or if it had something to do with the lift. My last problem is that as I slowed down and stopped completely, the steering wheel would shift a bit to the right. It also wandered a tiny bit to the right (no more than before though). Is this stopping problem because of bad alignment (it didn't happen every time either) I may have just hit a bump haha

This is what it did when I stopped

Lift looks great.......start off shudder......pretty normal and hit or miss. Do your searching and maybe perform some work(at a shop of course;)......take it to a buddies and lie to your parents) like shims and stuff. If the alignment was done by the same shop.................take it somewhere else first............and make sure to get numbers.

OP, can you take an after picture at the same angle as you took the original. I'm just curious about how the springs look now. I have always thought my springs looked really flat, do the curve a ton once you put in the AAL? I'm guessing that's how you get so much lift with a AAL. I don't know much about this stuff.

    I don't see " a lot " of rake

Do you guys think I could get by with wheels spacers, stock wheels, and 285s? I'm trying not to spend too much money.. And quite frankly, I like the stock wheels over any aftermarket ones

^ that's fine. I know a couple of members using that setup. You might have to do a CMC to rid the rubbing.

My question is, would that be necessary? because I'd have to do it under the radar.. Father would not approve. Minor rubbing at full lock isn't really a huge problem, but if I'm rubbing when I turn every corner, that is

Wow, that sounds like quite the install issues!

Glad you have your truck back, it sounds like the alignment is slightly off if the wheel pulls that hard when you stop.

Honestly look at some of the builds of guys who have done the spacers and 285's you will have LOTS of rubbing on the inner fenders, flares, etc and the cutting you need to do is quite noticeable.

Good looking truck though, and + on the SR5!

That is pretty funny "what would have gone wrong if we had installed it". My dad is the opposite his motto is don't pay someone to do what he can do himself. I now personally probably have over 5K in tools maybe more. You gotta start somewhere.

My truck has done that since I got it and I've had a few alignments done. Only happens once and awhile (usually down my steep driveway). I don't think anything of it my tires look fine

I'm running 285s with 1 1/4" spacers on stock Sport rims. The only rubbing I have is at full lock on bumps in reverse. I do have a set of 9" rims waiting to be installed when I get new tires before winter. Hoping they won't rub any more than what I have now.

    Good luck with yours!:D

Not off the top of my head, but they may be in my build thread. I did notice that all my posted pics are now red x's. Most of the pics were added from the Kodak Gallery, which does not exist any more, but I did add a couple more recent ones.

The lift is ToyTec's ULK with Dakar leaves and ToyTec coilovers. I also added the Light Racing UCA's to get the alignment right.

Just guessing, but the measurements were right around 24" from the center of the hub to the flare edge...I think.:notsure:

Your truck looks pretty good the way it sits right now!

AND... be gratefull that your dad even let the lift happen in the first place, that sounds pretty cool to me, even if the work was hired out. Maybe you both could learn a little together and make it a father/son project?

GET HIM TO JOIN TW TOO!

Not to get too sappy, but my dad died before we could get into anything like this. He was a "car-guy", I think I missed out a little there! He died 3 days before I turned 11 in '77. His cars were a '65 convertible Skylark, (summer toy:burnrubber:), '67 Contvertible Electra 225, (family machine), and a '73 Opel GT, (winter toy).

    Sorry...back on track!:D
