    Also put a jack under the ball joint to support it and undo the 4 bolts holding it on. Then lower it slowly back down or you'll never have enough drop to get the shock out. And be careful not to strip the threads on the lower shock bolt when you pull it out or you'll be making a trip to the Toyota dealer for new one.

    I took the coilover (shock, strut, w/e) without removing the control arms. put a little pressure on the upper control arm (bottle jack or pry-bar) and it will droop enough to take out the intact assembly. loosen the bottom bolt and nut, take off the three top nuts completely so it can fall out.

    Just loosten uca nut, its a 19mm. They are non adjustable. After you are done retorque nut after truck is on the ground @ ride height

    he asked about LCA, not UCA :D

    Struts will come off with upper and lower in place, might have to remove sway bar end link though. I was referring to the post that said use a pry bar or jack to move upper out of the way. Loosten nut, rotate arm up, tighten nut, it stays out of the way :thumbsup:

    yeah, sway bar end link HAS to be removed. but waste of time to remove UCA from spindle, just causes more issues ;)
