I'm rarely off-road, except when hunting, which is more about snow and dirt than boulders. I think I'll skip the lift, stay stock, and just invest in a bit more tire, plus better skid-plate.

OME is a great bang for the buck. I don't think you will regret it.

You mentioned "with stock size tires" - can you please explain

After 1 hour of labor it turns into a drinking session, then a food run, then a trip to casino - then if we win, more booze and food

we'll finish the truck in 2 weeks

Tires sized in the same sizes as those that come from the factory based on the model.

Totally agree. I've done a lot with my stock suspension 2014 OR with tires alone. The stock configuration is good, e-locker, A-TRAC, etc. Get out first, learn what you would want/need while saving for the lift. Your couple of trips to a off road course might not require any lift or anything. Then you've saved yourself a couple grand for a while when you enjoy on your brand new, first truck and learn what it can and can't do. If you want it for looks, stuffing bigger tires, etc. go for it.

You may want to buy some armor, sliders rather than tube steps, etc. to protect you from the bottom side, but these trucks can get you into and out of trouble pretty well, especially the OR models. (I went tube steps instead of sliders and am rectifying this error in judgment).

It would not affect warranty, which was why I was pointing out that the guys I know who have had offroading damage were able to get it covered without issue.
