This is my first post on the forum.

I just recently bought a 2013 Double Cab Long Bed TRD Sport.

So far I love the truck but I have to admit that I have already had way more issues with it than I’d like.

I’ve replaced the carrier bearing (and all the u joints while I was at it), the rear leaf springs seem to be shot, and I am pretty sure I’m getting a fair amount of axle wrap. Also I’m getting a horrible humming noise/vibe at 40 mph (from what I’ve researched it sounds exactly like the front diff needle bearing)

I’m hoping that I can point to the cheap lift kit (toytec spacer in front block under rear leafs) that the previous owner installed to be the culprit for all or most these issues.

I plan on purchasing a completely new lift.

My question is what is the best bang for my buck? These trucks seem to be picky with lift kits and I don’t want to do it twice. I’m not looking to spend an insane amount of money and I don’t need anything I can jump or anything like that. Some light off roading occasionally. Really just want something that I can drive on a washboarded road at a decent speed without feeling like the truck is going to fall apart. Looking for 2-3” of lift.

    Any advice or recommendations?

I would go with max trac spindle lift for the front. New leaf's in the rear.
Although the spindle lift from max trac will give you almost 4 in lift

Ome 885 coils an Bilstein 5100s with a aal in the rear would be a great setup

That is a great service up, the only thing is this, if u want 3 in of lift, ur Billy's will be maxed out, your uca will be maxed out and then ur alignment will barely be within spec. Once u get past all that, they do ride nice. Research is ur friend

An add-a-leaf might not get you where you want to be if the leaf springs are already shot. I had the same problem, my springs were totally worn out from the block lift the previous owner put on. I would be looking at Dakars if they are in your budget, or find a set of good condition takeoff leaf springs here on the forum and put an add-a-leaf in those.

Bilstein 6112 front, 5160 rear. OME EL095 rear leaf springs, and JBA upper control arms. That'll get you to the 3" lift range, and should be comfy on washboard roads.

    My $0.02

They make spindle lifts for 4x4? Thought it was just for Prerunners like yours...

HeadStrong offroad has a nice lift setup for budget conscious folks like you and me. I did it, been 4 years with no issues. Billies, springs, add-a leafs

AALs; progressive or single will be worthless on flat or negatively arched springs. Go with a new leaf pack like Dakars.

Don't forget new UCA's any time you are approaching 2.5" of lift or more. HIGHLY recommended if you don't want to wander on the highway or spend time in an alignment shop all the time.

    Thanks for the advise guys!

Trying to narrow down my options and/or figure out what my future needs may be.

    What I need:
    -2.5 -3” of lift
-something that drives well on the highway (daily driver)
-something that handles very rough and non maintained paved roads as well as washboarded out gravel roads
-extended travel:something that helps me articulate rutted our uneven hill climbs

So far this is the kit I’m looking into:
    https://bilsteinlifts.com/shop/toyo...MIwrC9hc-a3gIVj1p-Ch0F3wtEEAkYASABEgL_CvD_BwE

    My questions are:
1- Is this overkill for what I want?
2- Any other setup that will achieve this at a lower cost?
3- If I purchase a kit with an aal, could I have my currrnt springs serviced and salvage them?

Look at the Fox kit with 2.5 extended travel coilover up front and the 2.0rr rears paired with Dakar leaf springs and SPC UCAs. https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/store/p193/FOX_Level_2_Kit_w/_OME_Dakar_Leaf_Packs_-_05__Tacoma.html

This is what I've been running for 20k miles and it's been solid.

I think a remote reservoir up front is over kill unless you are really heating up the suspension and Icons have issues (top hat failures and line leaks).

Personally, an AAL on the stock pack is just a bandaid that is only going to get you so far before you're forking our money for a new leaf pack.

OME set up with heavy duty Dakars in the rear.
Depending on what coil you get its a 2.5-3” lift. Opt for the new UCAs.

Its a suspension lift thats great for light off roading, daily driving, and hauling.

The Icon lift is over kill if you don’t do a lot of off roading. Plus it doesn’t have a solid rear leaf pack replacement its only an AAL.

An OME set up with new UCAs is around $1,800 with the heavy duty Dakars.

OME 884 Coils. GeneralSpringKC 90-297HD Leafs. Bilstein 5100's all around, front set at 0. Toytec 1/4" top plate on driver's side. Leer 100XR Camper Shell. OEM Bed Mat.
I went a different direction than most. I got some GeneralSpringsKC HD leafs. They are quite a bit cheaper than the Dakar's and come with new bushings already installed. They gave me 2-2.25" of lift after settling and with a camper shell. I've loaded up about 500-600 lbs in the bed and it hardly squats but the ride doesn't seem too harsh. Also, no squeaking!

For the front, I went with OME 884's but I should have gone with OME 885's. They will get your front end about as high as you can go without replacing the UCA's although this varies per truck. Some have had to get UCA's with 885's while others haven't and that's why I went with 884's. OME 884's gave me about 1.5-1.75" in the front which is less that what I wanted. I do have Bilstein 5100's and against the popular option, I plan to adjust them to the first notch of .85" of lift to see what the outcome is. I expect to see an additional inch by doing so which should put me right at the magical 2.5" mark. This is commonly considered the threshold for needing UCA's. If it ends up that I would need UCA's to keep this height, I'll just revert back to stock adjustment on the 5100's and call it a day.

Cost with Bilsteins, OME 884's, Toytec 1/4 spacer and GSKC leafs came in at about $1000.

What are you running? I'm thinking of Billy 5100's matched with OME 884, and Deaver 1.5" AAL in the rear.
