Due to excessive air time and a stretched (literally) front end, I need to lift my project truck to get my camber back. I want to increase tire size from the current 31x10.5r15 to 33x12.5r15 and am looking at the Bilstein 5100 3" lift kit.
    My quandary, however...
Is 3" enough lift for the bigger tires? I already have offset rims (unsure of specifications on them though).
How often am I going to tare CV boots? I have read that anything over 3" all but requires front differential drop.
Will the slight increase in height and tire diameter kill the get-up-and-go? A friend of mine installed a 6" lift and 35's on his 93, and 5th gear was never touched again. The 3.slow liter is obviously not the 3.4 but it's still a concern.
    Any input will help!

Well, for the price of the diff drop and the extremely long time of 15-25 minutes to install it, just do it.

I have a 97 that I just added the Billy 5100's with 2" lift and I did the diff drop. I'm running 33/11.5/16 right now and it's nice. I think I might put a coil spacer above the spring and get another 3/4" lift to help the tire clear the body.

I don't have much change in the power but with the new tires and steelies it has a good vibration at speeds more than 100km/h.

if the 33s rub with no lift they will still rub with the billy lift. Most times all thats need to make them fit is the pinch weld mod. Power loss shouldnt be to big depending on what gearing your truck came with.

I havent so much as looked into a diff drop. If it is that easy i could see some advantages there...
How do you like the Bilsteins? The kit i was looking at is $600+ so i certainly hope its wort it.
These are the pinch welds, right? I have modified them with a hammer... Truck in question has been rolled twice and has a cage and a soft top. Hammer mods have long since been used. Lol.
