JStreetS: I think that's quite reasonable.

It's possible to find a lower price, but not by a lot. Les Scwhwab in my area quoted me a price in the mid/high 6 hundreds - perhaps 10% less than your quote. However, there are presumably advantages to having the work done by your dealer - you're much less likely to have warranty grief issues if they perform the modification than if you sub it out to someone else.

So if a Revtek spacer lift meets your needs: I say go for it.

Maybe the extra was labor costs for install. LOL

No recalibration is necessary. They didn't change the diameter of your wheels did they? No.

Don't let this sh*t slide man. Keep on 'em. Also try the Better Business Bureau.

He can try, but the thread's a year old, and that stuff about recalibrating was just rationalization spew from the dealer trying to make him go away confused and happy. Dollars to donuts there's nothing on the written contract about that.

At the end of the day, all that matters is what's written on the printed and signed contract. The OP agreed to pay 3 large for parts an install worth at most $750 -- (that's as near as we can tell, because we never did find out FOR SURE if new tires and wheels were on there.) But your best defense against this shit is being informed before you go into the little room and sign on the dotted line.

OP: Put a link in your sig: something like: "don't buy a Toyota from XYZ dealer, PM me to ask why!" Put it in your email signature also. Tell everyone you know that they're slimeballs. But trying to get that money back is an uphill losing battle against the machine - never happen.

Yeah, I never noticed the date of his original post. Basically every time you walk into a dealership you have to be looking out for the traps.

Thanks BJMoose! So is this Revtec kit considered a body lift? Would anyone recommend the lift or should I go with something else?

It's considered a spacer lift. Not recommended if you actually plan on taking your rig off road.

i work for a dealership and we also install spacer lifts on the new tacomas, prerunners, and tundras. we charge about 3k and that includes 17in rims, roughly 33in nitto terras, and the toy tec spacer kit lift with rear addies. reason why we charge so much is cause:
1: you can finance the lift price and install with the truck
2: we guarentee the parts and labor for the 3 yr 36,000mile.

so yeah you did get shafted in a way, but maybe your parts are still under warrenty through the dealer.. might wanna check cause if your springs get a bit weak, stuts fail, or cv axles go, you might be able to shaft them right back ;)

WOW....I read this and the complaints site he posted. This is ridiculous! I'm tempted to call Art myself! He should drive to the dealership and give 'em all a swift kick in the dick!
