Hey guys. New to the forum. Just got a 2021 Tacoma. I couldn't find much information on the TRD factory lifts. I've heard the bilstein TRD lift you can order at dealerships is just a 5100 suspension from bilstein that's rebranded. Not sure if that's true but a 2" lift and mild performance increases seems plenty for a family overland grocery getter. My only question is will weight be a huge issue. I plan on putting a 70 lb CBI covert bumper with a smitty built synthetic rope winch. I also plan on putting a tonneau cover and some basic recovery gear in the bed and at most some camping gear for the family. Would I need to concern myself with the weight, especially that weight on the front? If this is concerning, how could I remedy this.

I had a similar setup initially and I lost about .5-.75” in the front from squatting and the truck would bottom out occasionally on rough roads. Adding weight requires heavier springs.

Stiffer springs are not necessarily required. You can adjust preload and increase damping as well. At some point though, I agree, you need stiffer springs.

Bilstein recommends you keep the stock coils with the 5100's. Adding a front steel bumper & winch changes everything....

Appreciate the replies. It's sounding like a light weight bumper and a lighter winch doesn't mean a whole lot. I'll have to figure out what I'll be getting first and then go with my suspension upgrade once I figure out my setup more. Thanks everybody!
