Relocating to Beautiful Colorado! Of the plethora of trails out there, is it really necessary for a lifted truck and larger tires? Or, can my stock 3rd gen w/ stock sized all-terrains do just fine.
I'm not looking to do massive rock-crawling or MOAB type craziness. Although I do like 'em crazy.
Thoughts, Advice, Suggestions are always appreciated and welcome!

The factory tires are definitely a weak point, so replacing those (even with the same size) would help out tremendously.

As stated, tires are a great start. From there, there is no reason to not get out there and see how you do. If you're running into clearance issues, you can re-address at that point. Pizza cutters (285/85/16 or 285/80/17) would give you a bit of height with little fuss.

I found moderate wheeling overwhelmed the OEM front shocks and also had some clearance issues. Some quality shocks, an AAL, 1.5” front/rear lift, and 265/75/16 tires really did the trick without breaking the bank or creating other issues. YMMV.

265/75r16, sliders, softopper, roof rack, 6112/5160's
pizza cutters are 255 not 285 as typo-ed above

AAL - Add a leaf, add another leaf to the leaf springs in the rear
here in AZ, 265/75R16s are all I've ever needed to go anywhere.

now getting rock sliders but only because I've seen too many t-bone cases where it looks like it'll save your life on here

265/75/16 Duratracs for the Win. Only reason to get a Lift is to put on bigger tires.

@jbgordon76, Best bang for the buck 2/1" Lift (no, not spacers), is the Bilstein 5100's, set @ 2" in front, and a 1" block in the rear. You got the OR model, so you can keep your rear OR shocks.

I live in CO and put thousands of miles of trails, FS roads, and scree routes on my truck before lifting it. For most of that I had stock OR suspension and 265/70/16 General Grabber ATX P rated tires; never got a flat. There were plenty of sketchy situations that made me sweat a bit...eventually I did put on a lift and 33s to give a little more assurance. That said, move on out and hit the trails with what you have. Mod once you figure out your appetite for trail abuse.
