So the shop was going to install the 5100's WITH your spacers? Did they include a diff drop? Most will tell you that you NEED a diff drop if you're going 3" or more to prevent your front CV's from wearing out.

The lowest setting on the 5100's is stock height, so it wouldn't be any different than what you have now.
It's generally a bad idea to stack lifts like that...

IMO, ditch the spacers, and use the 5100's to lift it.

If you can turn a wrench, you can do this swap yourself. All you need is a coil spring compressor for struts/coilovers, and you can rent those (usually for free) from an Autozone or whatever.

The shop has a point about the alignment however, you might have someone do that once you're done, but that shouldn't be more than $60-$80ish.

It's a 2wd. And yea I can turn a wrench. I'll probably ask my buddy that helped me build my front bumper for some help since he's got an air compressor. It'll go a lot smoother and faster. Think I'll get the OME coils and 5100s and ditch the spacers. Keep the blocks for now and do an AAL or full leaf pack.

With the OME coils any recommendations on which ones? Whats the max adjustment I should go with the 5100s? Say if i got the 2.5 inch lift coils? 1/2 inch? So that puts me at exactly 3"? Would it be bad if I set them higher? Say to get a 3.5" or 4" lift? Again sry for the dumb questions. Still new to this lift thing and trying to learn.

I have 881s and my local offroad shop and Lowrange offroad both said you can set the 881 and 5100 on the 2nd to lowest setting on the shock. Seems to work fine for me and many others in my area. Gives about another 1/2" of lift or so. I would go with 881s. Go with 882s if you want a good bit more lift than you have now (more than 3/4")

Keep 5100s at 0 lift when using aftermarket coils. You should never go more than 3" lift up front. Even at 2.5" ucas are recommended to alleviate driveability issues. Plus the lack of downtravel can make for a harsh ride.

How much total lift do you think you have up front with this setup?

There is literally zero reason to preload lift coils.

If you want 881s with preload, get 882s and save yourself from looking like a clueless dude.

Going to a shop and just saying "I want 3" of lift but I want new shocks" and they'll give you just that, the same shit you have now with new shocks and charge you an arm a leg for it because they know you don't really have a good understanding of something and are just wanting a specific outcome. The destination is what you want, and the road to get there is whatever they sell you. Don't be that guy.

Also, don't preload lift coils. Buy the right one for your needs, first. If your needs change someday, sell them and buy the proper coil once more.

Appreciate the honest response. So basically either with OME coils and or 5100 shocks, the max lift I can get with either is 2.5"?? Just trying to stay at 3" or go a little higher. Maybe get 5100s and 1" body lift??? Should put me at 3.5" I guess

You're fixating on the end result and not seeing the problems of getting there.

5100s can, in themselves, get 2.5" of lift. A lift coil is a lift coil, and negates any preloading lift height a 5100 offers. So if you want a 3" lift, get a 3" lift coil and keep the 5100s at the stock (0) setting.

You'll save yourself a lot of money (which your budget doesn't allow for) by staying at 3" or below it, in the 2.5-2.75" range.

You already have a low quality, 3" lift and you don't like it. Right? You're here trying to get rid of it for something better? So I'm not sure why you're so hot on getting into something that's going to be the same problem you have now, just with different parts and with more money spent on it.

@95 taco should chime in with his setup and pics of it. It's likely what you're after.

Again, lifting a truck is new to me. Can't blame a guy for asking questions. I've had the 3" lift for well over a yr so why would I want to go lower? Just trying to see my options with my budget. And again thx for the advice.

Curious to how much lift you achieved with the 881's and 5100's? I am about to get the same setup myself.

you are so fixated on the 3" lift lol. The reason you might go lower is your current setup is not great, and your ride quality suffers because of it. If you are here to get 3" lift that does not improve any performance, just keep what you have and replace your worn monroes. But not many on here would go that route. Gotta ask, why did you armor your front end and put the lift on? Are you wheeling or just into the aesthetics? If its the latter, then maybe you dont care about ride quality etc...

Most recommend you stay at 2.5" unless you plan to upgrade your UCA, which alone is almost your budget ($500+)

Not busting your balls man, trying to help.

Just reminding you not to fixate on the end game because that's how mistakes are made, and I don't want you to spend money on something you're not going to like. You can get what you want and have it be great, or get what you want and have you regretting it every time you drive.

3" lifts are fine, but they come at a cost. More than 3" (if you're 4x4) and you're in a whole different world of issues.

Get 5100s and put ome 882 coils on it. You will be happy and probable get more lift than you would think you would get. If you want to stay around the same hight you have now get 881s. I spent 2 months going back and forth and researching. To sum it up.

    881 on a prerunnwr dbl cab v6 = 2.5-3" lift
    882 on a prerunner dbl cab v6 = over 3" of lift
