Might be "fugly" to some but for people that don't intend to swap out the front bumpers the 12's have a much better approach angle in the corners. If you do intend to swap out then the fugly goes away with the bumper

I say keep the 09. But that's because I hate the front end of the 2012's.

Sup Hawaiian! Trade it and Lift the 12. I have an 09 too! In 15 years, the later models of the 2nd gens will be the most sought after. It's like that for all makes of collectibles!...generally speaking.

you've prob worked out the bugs from your 09 already and I agree with others that it will be paid off sooner, only 3 years older, cheaper insurance and you'll finally have the LIFT! 2012 you're waiting another 3 years! :D

Your essentially buying the same truck "small feature changes and front face" and losing all the initial interest you were charged on the first truck, payments, principal, etc. to start over on the new truck which again is essentially the same truck but newer. Unless its a change like access cab to double cab or 2wd to 4wd not worth it. Go with the lift. Not to mention a lifted modded unique tacoma is better than the generic factory. I'd take a lifted, modded, tasteful 1st gen over a bone stock 2nd gen anyday. Just my 2 cents.

    read build thread
based on the info in his profile it looks like he ended up doing a 6" lift w/ 35's instead of a trade.

I say lift it. You'll be done making payments sooner than if you get a 2012.
