I am not familiar with Readylift. By "3 and 2" do you mean inches?

The differential support bracket pulled the bolt through and dropped the dif down to the skid plate

Do the diff drop. For what it cost and the level of difficulty it is extremely cheep insurance against future more costly and expensive repairs.

Couldnt this have happened with no spacers (eg a coilover lift)?

theoretically yes, but this as well as blowing the lowers off shocks are exactly why spacer lifts suck,

1 - 2" range you will be fine. 2.5 - 3" and you're pushing it. Anything over 3" you're going to tear boots for sure and break axles in 4wd.

On my 1st gen the diff drop did next to nothing at all, wasn't worth the $20 I paid for it. Only thing that got me to stop tearing boots was to lower the front end to about 2.25".

The problem wasn’t the lift, that’s an assumed cause. The Tacoma didn’t have a steel plate on the differential bracket. The differential had a drop spacer but the factory forgot to add the steel plate. Fully covered and fixed by Toyota

I am about to put Toytec/Eibach Coilovers for a 2" lift in the front... on the fence about installing a diff drop from reading about the ups and downs of them on here...
