alright boys and girls, if I buy a rough country 3 inch lift kit and put it on my truck I know it will be a rough ride. My question is that if I also buy 5100's and replace all the shocks if it will make the ride smooth like it was stock, improve the ride, or do nothing at all? Don't really know much about lifts so anything is helpful!

It will improve. I would suggest though taking off the rc lift first before installing 5100's. Unless you keep the 5100's at stock ride height, the whole lift will be too much.

It will do nothing at all. The 5100's ride stiff on my truck with front spring preloaded and the extra leaves in the rear. The rc lift is basically a spacer lift and will make it stiff as well, which preloads front and rear springs.

OP how much are you looking to spend? If you get 5100s, some OME 888 coils and an AAL, you're at ~$650 in parts and will have a much better ride.

That's highly subjective though. For someone barreling through the desert, it may be the most important mod. For someone cruising the blacktop, not so much. IMO tires are the most important.

Just out of curiosity... why 888's? I've used the suspension selector on the OME website before, and it recommends 885s. (though to be fair, this was for my truck, not having any armor like a front bull bar etc.)

It's hard to tell from his avatar, but it looks like he has a DCSB Trd Sport. Here's a chart from @HeadStrong Off-Road showing how much different coils give.

OP is looking at a 3 in spacer lift and the closest he'll get to that with OME coils is the 888s.

The man didn't "skimp" out on his lift, that's what he chose the first time around. Now he's asking if 5100's are worth it, not if his original thought and decision was valid in someone else's eyes.

I agree with staying away from the rough country setup. I have recently ridden in both setups and the OME/5100 is the way to go.

Wasn't necessarily saying I was buying rc I was using it as an example sense most lifts are like that you duck.

That's about my price range, I'm mainly looking for something that will be smooth and give me enough clearance to run some 33's

Are you going to install yourself, or pay a shop? You've got to take that into consideration. Also 33s is pretty broad. You can do 10"x33" and not run at all, or 11.5"x33" and rub quite a bit. Even wider and you'll rub more. Of course, this can all be remedied, but only if you're ok with cutting stuff.

Yea I'm getting a local shop to do it all Bc although I could figure it out, I would rather have someone that knows for sure what they're doing to do it. And yea my bad I'm looking at 10"x33" just most places I've read have about 50/50 luck with any size 33 tire rubbing on their truck.

So if you go 255/80r17, you can actually run that on stock suspension and wheels without rubbing. With a lift, you'll be golden. Is your truck a DCSB 4x4??

Yea I'm not comfortable cutting anything really but I was just wondering about the 20's because I saw someone running 20x10 fuels on 33's and he said he didn't run at all with his 3 inch lift.
