So I have a 2022 Tacoma TRD OR. Just got it a couple of weeks ago and it’s all stock. I want to start my journey with my first taco and get it lifted and put some 285 tires. Any recommendations on what lift I should decide on? I plan on using my truck for work and with moderate off roading. Can anyone suggest a shop in the LA / San Fernando area where I can get a lift and possibly tires done?

If it were mine, I’d go with Fox or King installed by Accutune in El Cajon. Worth the drive and worth the wait.

Check out Ironman lifts. I can't say enough good things about the ride quality and performance.

What you stated for use of your truck.
I'd recommend the Bilstein 5100 w/stock coils set at 5th notch, SPC UCA's set at "F" or "G" setting, 16x9" or 17x9" (or less) wheels with no less than 4.5" BS (If you go with 8" wide wheels even better) and move your front inner liner forward and trim the lower corners of the bumper plastic and you should be good to go! Check out the link in my sig. For general data on lifts and alignment.

Sorry contact Headstrong Offroad they can help you out.

    And Welcome to TW!

They have some sweet lift kits. I did contact them and got the 411 on how it works. I might go with them as I'm sure it's worth the wait. Thank you

    Hey Ghost Ship.
I originally wanted to do the installation myself but I don't have a garage to do the work. I live in an apartment building. I also don't have any experience doing this type of install.

The first link in my sig gives you a list of tools you would need. Youtube has a lot of good videos on lift installs. If you were in Hawaii I'd help you out with the install. It's not very hard. But it can be dangerous if you don't know your way around tools. Good Luck!

Can’t go wrong with any lift as long as your happy with what you pick. Ride quality is very subjective. Do a little re search.

    Good Luck and Happy:mudding: Off-roading

It is not recommended to lift these Tacomas.

I’m just limited with space and car tools. I’ve been an aircraft mechanic for about 6 years now and I have a lot of aviation tools but literally close to zero car tools. Just the basics. I might just have to do it in my own tho. Thinking of just going with Bilstein 6112 & 5100.

Great Choice! Considering you intended use? I see no reason for me to recommend anything else. Fox C/O's are awesome! But way overkill for what you need. I recommend the SPC UCA's so you can avoid the need to do a CMC. I'm running the billistein 5100 with 887 coils and SPC UCA's from Headstrong Offroad they are in your general area. I can full stuff my 33" tires no problem! I only have a 2" lift. No CMC.
Basically I do all my lifts in my driveway. Good jack stands and a good floor jack are a must! As for setting up the Billies Headstrong can set up the Coilovers for you, and then it a simple R&R to do the lift.
I'm able to do my own Coils because I have one of these:

What’s your budget Op? That will help narrow the lifts within that range.

How much weight do you carry on the back of the truck?

    Right now not alot…
    Over axle weight: 440
    Leitner ACS forged rack: 185
CBI Rear bumper: 50 over stock
    Decked system: 205

    Non over axle weight: 300
    Sliders: 140
    Skids: 160

But I was planning for future add on’s and having a nice ride when it’s loaded up for road trips and adventures. It’s a little stiff without gear which I was looking for since I wanted a smoother ride while adventuring (running the adjusters on 0 clicks in the back). When I pack up gear it’s perfect, without the gear it’s stiff no doubt.

    update:
after hitting a bunch of dips/jumps the back definite kicks a little when there’s no gear.
