So I need to lower mine to .85? That would help me? Also what size tires are you running?

265/70/17. I have the exact same coils as you ( the 112620) they give you 1.6 inches of lift set at zero. I have mine preloaded on the first notch plus a top plate to get roughly 3 inches.

I was asking because removing the sway bar makes our trucks ride a lot smoother. I have removed my front sway bar on my previous 1st Gen and currently in my 2nd Gen.

Just pointing out riding like a cloud without the swaybar would be noticeably stiffer with the exact same set up with a sway bar.

I don't know if someone else has said this but........he has too much lift, what the source is, is difficult to tell, maybe the spring is too heavy/long. Look at the UCA, not only is it WAYYY to close to the coil, the misalignment spacers are almost maxed out (hitting the cup), he could be going into mechanical bind from one or more of those things any time he hits a bump.

He is not running a sway bar, this yields a softer ride, but you might feel better knowing your son has one (sway bar) if he is young and inexperienced

true. I also have never had the swaybar on with my current setup so i have no clue how the ride is with it on. but I imagine if he drops a notch it might make a difference.

Probably because it's irrelevant here in terms of why his truck rides rough.

His issue is preloading his aftermarket springs too much. And who knows what else, such as tire pressure, his opinion, etc etc.

I would imagine it would help. From my experience removing my front sway bar with factory trd off road coils and Billy's set to 0.85" went from a somewhat stiff ride to a very soft and compliant ride, especially off road. Your set up would be even safer as I'm guessing the spring rate on your coils is higher than mine. I find my truck handles almost the same around corners without the sway bar as it did before. Now 100% stock set up on my 2004 without sway bar was pretty sway"e"

Yep, I completely agree, mechanically binding the suspension feels great.

"Hey TW, why does my truck ride rough"

"Oh it's because mechanical binding may or may not be happening."

    Yeah that's real helpful

FWIW - I have OME 886 coils, which are 660# spring rate according to Headstrong Offroad. I have an ARB bumper and winch and it still rode pretty rough until I put steel IFS/Mid skids on. So with your 620# spring rate you'd need a decent amount of weight out front. Although with that said I don't have experience with those shocks.

I drove a few hundred miles with the sway bar off on stock suspension before putting my lift in and I actually thought it drove pretty stiff and responsive. only thing I noticed was it took a little longer to compose its self after hitting huge dips on the freeway. also going from a lt ranger to a stock Tacoma im used to a shit load of body roll

Sway bar discussion aside I have had 2 of these setups. On the first truck I had the 112620 coils on Bilsteins set at ,85. It provided 2,5" of lift with no spacers. The ride was stiff but not uunpleasant. On this truck I installed the Bilsteins with Eibach 521600 coils they provide 2.5" of lift but are a little lighter with a 600# spring rate. These were installded with a 3/8 tp spacer on the driver's side and 1.4" on the passenger side with the Bilstiens set at "0" This provided 3"lift and eiminated lean. This setup rides much better than the previous. The 112620's aren't really meant to be preloaded but I had bumped them up 1 notch and had no problem. So yes Eibach makes 2 different coils with 2 different measurements.

Just wanted to post an update, Took the truck to the Toyota place, they lowered it almost two inches, said the preload on the coils was a lot. the ride is much better now but the truck dont look near as good and it still rubs a little on the right side on the body mount. Any other ideas to get the lift back to even with a good ride? I'll try to post some pics before and after on both truck and Springs and shocks...
