Lift Spacer or Suspension Lift?

    Thanks to everyone for their info. Ok so to recap. Got a free set of 285/75/16. Do not want to go with spacers but want to keep the price down. On Toytec's website they got the

    Ultimate lift kit


    and then the have the Bilstein Adjustable lift kit


    Both have the same AAL in the rear with Bilsteins 5100 all around so why the $500 price difference? I will mainly be driving the truck as my daily driver but often go camping and exploring for fun but nothing hard core.
    I called toytec and the rep said the main deference was that the Ultimate set up has a fully adjustable screw set up(anywhere from the 1'' to the 3'' lift) where as the other kit you can only choose from i think 2 settings (1.5'' and 3'') Also this set is not pre-assembled. Will i need a spring compressor to put them together?
    Being that i'm looking to utilize my free set of tires it sounds like i will have to set the coil-over’s at the max to eliminate rubbing. So i guess i'm asking should i spend the extra money or will i see any difference between the two setups for what i'm going to be using the truck for?

    You would probably get very little difference. Not $500 worth anyway. What you get with the ultimate lift pack is:
    Fully adjustable bilstein hardware (Toytec charges up the wazzu for this.)
    Sway bar relocates (29.99)
    Axle Shims (28.99)
    Rear U-bolts (39.99)
    Assembly of the coil overs (40.00 at most reputable shops, or about the same if you buy a good spring compressor and do it yourself.)

    The coil spring is a bit different too. Based on the stated range of adjustment I would say the one in the cheaper kit is a shorter, but stiffer coil. Toytec sells the same coil, as the ultimate kit has, with the adjustment hardware separately for 429.99. This include the sway bar relocation kit. They also sell the coils for the second kit separately for 149.99.

    So, your paying 250.01 difference if you put it together yourself for the longer/softer CO. That will give you a better ride quality as opposed to the shorter stiffer coil.

    All in all, you come up to a hardware difference of 388.98.

    Since you are going to be setting this kit at 3" to start with you will effectively be sacrificing the benefit of the longer softer spring. Suspension preload does that. I would just buy the cheaper kit and get the following items with it:

    Sway bar relocates (29.99)
    Axle Shims (28.99)
    Rear U-bolts (39.99)
    Driveshaft carrier bearing drop kit (10.99)
    Total cost: 759.95

    You might think about some extended rear brake lines too. (69.99)

    Yeah thats kind of what i was leaning towards. Although the red springs would match my paint lol. Thanks for your info and research i'll keep ya posted on what becomes of this project.
