Lift then wheels?

Just looking for some insight from fellow TW members.

Do I save for a lift or go ahead and get wheels then lift? I have the budget for wheels currently and I am feeling the urge to do something different on the Tacoma. Lots of Tacomas on the streets now where I live and I want to separate from the pack. What's the consensus?

    Thanks,

    Falcon

Lift then wheels for sure. Doing the lift first lets you put some bigger wheels and tires under

The wheels I am looking at getting will be the same wheels I will use when I lift and get bigger tires. I've got a set of 265/75/16 KO2s on at the moment with about 15k miles. Post lift I plan on making the 285 switch. I could sell the current KO2s but planned on running them full life.

Wheels is my last item for mods when I get there. Have you decided on which lift your going with?

unlike other trucks....Tacomas dont look terrible lifted on stock wheels........so you can lift it, and get some wheels later.

thats what im doing.....trucks lifted 3"....and im waiting until my tires need to be replaced and then fit fatter ones on.

Depends on what deal you find first! I found a pair of SCSs that I bought used. Threw on the shoes and rubbed a little while til I found a barely used lift!

Good choice I had the Icon AAL before dakars. Rode great handles bumps like a champ...loads not so much I could put a lawn chair back there an see some sag. The dakars ride better but a little stiffer.

Can you describe stiffer? Provide an example from stock to dakars? I know it's all subjective but what's your experience? I'd really like to save up and not get the AAL, will probably end up doing that.

Ya it is hard to describe..stock going over a speedbump or railroad tracks the rear end would buck like a bronco an feel like a kidney punch. Dakars soak it up you feel it but assend stays planted. Best I can do you have to ride in a truck with dakars to know what I'm describing.

I had mine lifted 3in and had to wait 2 weeks for my tires/wheels to come in. I hated my truck with the stock sport tires/wheels during that time. If you can fit the wheels/tires you want without a lift I would do that first.

This is what I will probably do. I want 285s but I will live with the 265s and then upgrade the tires when I lift.

That is all I really needed to hear. I go over tracks regularly. Stock is awful.

Aal helps it but Dakar is night an day difference with that type
of thing so I'd buy once plus you get more lift. Aal is 1.5-2 Dakar is 3.

Lift. Spend more on it so you get a good performance upgrade not jsut look and feel, then you can add the wheels later, as you will likely spend more on those too.
