The shop is trying to sell you the special deluxe “I didn’t do my homework, so I’ll just let you guys decide for me” package. I don’t blame them because so many people don’t want to bother spending the time to educate themselves about lifts and just leave it all up to a shop (and then get reamed). It’s definitely the worst way to buy a lift.

Take advantage of all the knowledge here and read up on all the much cheaper options out there for a 95% on road truck, and watch some youtube install videos too… You’ll save a ton doing it yourself and you’ll actually learn about your vehicle at the same time. Win win. Even if you don’t do the install, figure out what YOU want. NOT what a shop wants for you!

I’m happy with my icons.(8) And I run 285/70/17 which are the same size as the /75/16s you’re specing. The digressive shocks are phenomenal improvement on dry road corners which is many of the miles so that’s a huge plus.

Oh!! I forgot, if you're gonna order from Headstrong, shoot them an email and mention you're a TW member. They might be able to offer you a small discount. They also might have a generic TW discount code floating around here somewhere. Worth looking into.

Thiiiis. I know you've got the 5100 kit pulled up already, but I'd take some time to go through the options. There's a lot and a lot of info out there. You're ready to throw down a good chunk of change here so take your time deciding and make sure it's a well-informed decision.

This is my 2019 SR5 on General Grabber ATX 265/75/16, no lift, no cutting, no rubbing, no mud guards.
My driving is also mostly highways and roads, some dirt trails and off road when hunting in upstate PA. I have yet to come across the need for me to lift.

you can add spacers to the wheels to make them poke out a bit..

here is my tacoma when i got it. its lifted about 2.75" stock 265-70-16 tires. and 2" spacers for the wheels.

@pahaf which lift did you go with? So, 4.5” back space would make the tires stick out a little more?

i ended up with bilstien 6112/5160 combo that i found on craigslist for $500.
in the rear i got the ome meduim leaf pack off craigslist for $400 brand new with bushings.
i got JBA HD high caster UCA for $300. (not sure if i needed them but hey, they were cheap)

im lifted about 2.75" still and im running 265-70-17 falken wildpeaks. never needed bigger tires so far, never got stuck.

im not too sure how back spacing works. i measure rims by offset. the more postive a number, the more sunk it is. the more negative it is, the more they stick out.

these rims are a +4 i belive. so they are almost flush with fender. i removed the 2" spacers when i upgraded the rims.

    Rims or tires?

tires, look online at Amazon, Walmart, tire rack. Find the cheapest price and then go to American tire and have them price match.

or depending where you live, like here in Sacramento or crowded places like la, sf, Seattle….lots of people sell like new tires for cheap.

    https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/wtd/d/concord-general-used-tires-1030/7433436097.html
That’s an example. Some people don’t like used tires and I understand

Is looks your #1 consideration over function? At 95% highway I would suggest getting nice tires and calling it done without lift. Spend your cash on bling upgrades

watching this thread because im going to eventually do a lift to mine (if I dont get a new truck next month) and i dont know a lot about lifts. i want something that lifts the front about 1.5"-2" and the rear about .5". This is my SR5 with the 265-70-16's taken off an Off Road.
