half yours, half his, is really not technically yours if you see the punn. Being 18 and living under his roof is not an option about going against his wishes either ..going against your dad in any situation isn't cool... respect the fact that your dad helped you obtain a truck if that was the situation... how many have responded to your original post of helping substanciate why you should have a lift or should not...all of these good looking trucks on here are really tempting... and I guess when the time is right, then you will know.... be level headed and weigh it the way that balances of with both parties seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck which ever way it turns out:rasta:

I would say dont get blocks in the rear, your springs will end up with negative arch. I have heard that the Wheelers progressive 3 leaf AAL rides pretty good.

If you get Bilstein 5100's and set them at 1.75" then you will not even have a chance of alignment issues. So that might be easier to convince him with.

If you want pics of that setup click on my sig.

I have 1" of lift in the back, provided by the Toyota TSB leaf pack.

    I run 18's, so a 275/75/18 is a 34"...no way could I fit that.

So I assume you are talking about16's.
275/75/16 would be cutting it real close. I'd stick with 265/75/16. That's the same overall width and diameter as my 265/65/18's.

Sounds to me like your dad paid half of your truck or somepart of it. I would respect my dad and if he didnt want me to lift "our" truck then I wouldn't. Stock trucks are fine and if you are a offroader I have seen a stock Tacoma wheel in crap that would show some big lifted jeeps up. Lift it when you pay your dad off and or move out, Save the money you would spend on a lift and pay your dad off.

Yea the things at the bottom is the add a leaf. But you could just get the 5100s front and back and the AAL in the back and keep your stock springs and it would work fine.

guys i appreciate the personal advice and since it is obvious that until i explain every little detail it will not stop so here it is. i have a 21 yr old brother and when he went to get his car he paid for $**** and my dad payed $**** and even match. so 3 yrs later, when i need a vehicle my dad payed $****and i had to pay the rest. ok? not for me to have to pay back, just $**** to help me with my purchase! so to recap, totaly my truck my dad just helped me with it. so with saying that he has talked to 1 person who has now said i shouldnt get a lift. so now he says i cant. i am not trying to do anything behind his back or anything like that i am simply educating my self so i can have a educated conversations.
    thanks!

Yes, but get an 1.5" AAL and set the 5100s at 2.5" and it should set about level.

If you go with the 5100's you can get a modest amount of lift out of those (1.75") in the front and a great ride without causing a bunch of alignment issues. An AAL in the back will give a little lift (1.5") and improve your load carrying capacity. That arrangement will help level the truck, improve your hauling potential, improve the ride, and the chicks will dig it! Tell him you want a 8" lift and then bargin your way down to this!
