I am purchasing a 3" lift kit for my 2010 Tacoma. I'm trying to figure out the best tire and wheel combo, the size and everything. I thought about a 33.12.15 but I didn't know how bad it would run or anything else. Just curious on what everyone else thinks. Please give some ideas. Also I thank you for your help in advance!

I have not done this upgrade but maybe check out the wheels & tire and suspensions & lift sections on the home page under site navigation.

    Yes sir
You can run 285/70/R17 but you'll rub a bit on the front mud flaps and UCA's. You can remove the front mud flaps and either use a wheel spacer or get an aftermarket wheel with 4.5 backspacing and I believe -12mm offset. Check out my rims to see how much they stick out of the fender. My stock rims had 1/4" wheel spacers to clear the UCA's. Otherwise, 265/70/R17 or 265/75/R16 will work but will look a bit small on a 3" lift. As for tires, I like an AT tire because they perform well in everything and they have a solid look. Check out BFG KO2's and goodyear wrangler duratracs.

    265/70/17 , 255/75/17 , 275/70/17 , 255/80/17 are all choices that won't rub with stock wheels

Im getting aftermarket wheels. The ones I'm probably buying is the xd series spy 797. I don't mind a bit of a rub when I cut it deep or anything. Also I'm sorry but what are the UCA's I'm not sure what that is. I'm a bit mechanically declined

I also don't have mudflaps. I have already took them off

With 2.5-3" of lift up front you can clear 285s with pretty minimal trimming unless you plan to wheel it hard. Those wheels should be fine if they are 4.5 BS and -12mm offset. What lift kit are you getting? What tires?

It's a rough country lift. And probably bfg, cooper or the nitto all terrain. And honestly I won't be wheeling it much at all worst I'll probably really do is where I hunt and stuff which can get pretty rough in places. But I'm not sure if I'll get those wheels or not. Looks like they only come in a 17 is all I've found.

I'm thinkin more like 16s or 17s the more I think about it. I'm just not sure yet. I'm afraid 17s would rub to much. More than likely I'll go with one of these 2 though. I wouldn't mind like a 17x8 or 17x9 but I'll probably go with a 16 cause I don't want it to rub to bad.

Wheel diameter doesn't affect whether you rub or not. The back spacing of the wheel combined with the height and width of the tire will determine if and where rubbing will occur.

From what others have said a 15 inch rim does not fit a second gen. Not 100% sure but that's what I've heard

UCA = upper control arms. 16's or 17's, either will work just fine.

I am running 285 with an 18 inch rim with the same lift. I trimmed a little bit of plastic, and I no longer rub.

Yeah wheel diameter will not cause rubbing, that's more dependent on the tires and the other wheel characteristics that have been mentioned.

Okay. I appreciate all the help. I am probably going to go with a 17x9 fuel wheel with a 33 tire. If it rubs a bit of trimming will make it work. I seriously appreciate it.

image.jpg I've got a three inch toytec spacer lift with 1.5 inch blocks in the back. I'm running 16x8 double standard method wheels and 265/75/16 BFG ko2 tires. Thinking about going up to 285s in the same tire but scared what it is going go take to make them fit.

Remove front mudflaps, wheel spacers if you don't have backspacing and enough offset so you clear the UCA's, maybe a bit of trimming on the front fender.

My wheels are 0 offset and 4.5 backspacing. Any chance of needing a CMC for everyday driving? I'm new at this. Haha I just started a thread in new members section as to not hijack this thread
