I was thinking along the lines of "minimum clearance" as well. That thread is hugely helpful.

So maybe it *is* worth it. Still not really sure what parts to get if I order a set of 5100s (utilizing the factory coil overs). Trying to stay somewhat stock with the least potential for added wear to the factory components. Guess I'll give Toytec a ring again tomorrow...

 I want to see if an answer is found to the VSC issue. I see alot of good ideas here about what may cause it,but only one that seems to be a definitive fix( although not all who have the issue had it work for them. ) It's an odd one for sure !

Desert Rat, why don't you start your own thread. That way we leave this thread for the people having VSC issues.

Just a suggestion. You'll be able to follow the posts addressed to you easier.

Plus, people may want to follow your build. From what I read, I do :)

Well, I got involved in this thread a few months ago because I wanted to do a 2012 build that specifically avoided VSC issues, and the discussion here and elsewhere has been very helpful in understanding what's involved. What I have found is that there is no "right" answer, and results vary, even with identical setups. Alignment and zero-point recalibration are critical, along with offset.

The most relevant, useful VSC info that I can directly report is that the larger tires on stock rims caused no rubbing and no nanny alarms. Because there is limited upside (pun intended) to a moderate suspension lift retaining my new 265/75R16s I might not do anything further; will report back if I do.

While I'm not compelled to start a thread for my new vehicle (and almost all my participation in TacomaWorld has been this thread), I will post a picture here once it's finished and 40 miles from asphalt in Utah at the beginning of June; hopefully an image showcasing adequate "minimum clearance" on stock suspension.

    Thanks for the help everyone.

Hi guys, I have a 2012 with Toytec 3" lift, 18" wheels and 275/70/18 tires. My vsc kicks in on the hwy on ramps. Called the local dealer in Dublin,Ca who actually lift and sell Tacoma's. The service tech told me they deal with this on their lifted vehicles. They said you can't adjust the vsc on a 2012. Does any know if that is fact?

They install the Superlift's TruSpeed to resolve the vsc issue. Has any one tried to us this?

The VSC can't be adjusted , but should be recalibrated after lifting , see the pdf in the first post of this thread

First I've heard of the TruSpeed

The two dealers I spoke with said they can do the zero-point recalibration (along with shimming sensors if necessary) but they have not been able to fully resolve VSC problems with *any* of the trucks they've lifted (which invariably have larger wheels/tires). My guess is because you are running 18" wheels yours may be difficult to resolve, but you may be able to minimize it somewhat (and of course turn off every time you start the vehicle) but you may be stuck with it.

What your dealer mentioned would some to be a novel solution: http://www.superlift.com/accessories/truspeed.asp

I run 18's with 6" of lift. After the alignment and recal...there's been zero issues. It can be done.

Yes, Toyota told me 6" lifts cause less VSC problems.

Had my dealer do the Zero calibration from the pdf suggested and waste of money. Didn't help at all. Abs still kicks in at higher speeds when using curved ramps to freeways :(

Not under warranty when you modify wheels, suspension and larger tires.

Your dealer is exceptionally helpful and understanding.

I've never had a dealer, toyota or otherwise, bend over backward like that.
